Man I was in a used books store today that deals in Books CDs and so on selling some old cds a few hundred bucks worth to be exact... Ah the MP3 anyway back to my story so a buddy of mine runs this joint and its huge so I was off looking for a couple books that I couldn't locate what I wanted and I saw a bunch of used magazines so I thought hmm maybe I can check out a few dirty magazines since the wife wasn't with me.. Well there werent any what I did find though was a bunch of old RC Modler magazines and mixed in I found some 10-20 year old rc car magazines. So I ended up with 14 diffrent ones. They are a buck a piece so I go to pay my buddy and he charged me 7 bucks man thats a deal considering they are a buck a piece anyway I come home work in the yard put down my weed killer and stuff then after taking a shower this night I set down and started reading through these magazines man it was wild how much the stuff has changed in just 10 years the bodys and the electronics have come so far even though they still cost the same now as they did then so that means the prices have really droped since they are the same now... Any way I am reading this rc car action form 92 and it says the traxxas nitro eagal National Champion. DUDE I SWEAR ON A BIBLE I poop WHEN I READ THAT .... Ok so I was reading on the POT but still it acted like an instant laxative. So anyway if you want to see some cool stuff if you haven't been in the hobby for years which I havn't then go to a used book store and find a couple of old magazines and it will really blow your mind to see what was cutting edge back then and what is now. And don't forget if you find ones that actuall had traxxas sponsered races trucks and buggys thoes act as laxatives because you can't belive it every really happened. X

I know what you mean X. I went to visit my dad a while back in south texas and was going through some of his "junk" and found a stack of old R/C magazines. He used to own a hobby shop so this type of stuff isnt uncommon, but as I read through them I was just blown away because in the 80's there were NO nitros cars/trucks and then in one magazine they had an article on this new truck called a traxxas nitro hawk. I about flipped out when I read that, nowadays its hard to find articles on electric cars because nitros are so popular.

Wow that was some cool videos over there can't belive I have never seen that great link man. X

i found it one day searching for tmaxx info and savage info.. when i was trying to decide between the 2.. he has a duel engine tmaxx.. my fav vid though is th eone where they got all the little trucks pulling a real full sized one..

Yea, don't you just love how interesting was this hobby a decade ago? I know a guy on ebay who are selling old magazine in new condition. I happen to purchase the whole set of the 1997 for 25 bucks. I thought this wasn't too bad since they were all nearly new conditions. Anyways, X, or anyone, have you guys seen the one of the issue for the year 1994 with the Kyosho GP10 spider in it? I'm currently looking for that issue, not sure which month...

omg, I remember being a kid and seeing a comercial once for the "grasshopper" (on that website). I wanted it bad for Christmas. My mom could not find it or something. I think I ended up with a little department store tyco that christmas. :(

Grasshopper, blackfoot. Man. A bunch of my friends had RC's back then before those 2. I wanted one so bad, but I was too much into M.A.S.K.

Too many memories. I started racing electrics eons ago with an Associated RC12e. Man, that goes way back. I took a LONG break and got back in a few years ago and can't believe how much has changed.

we'll be old farts in 10 years and having the same conversation :D

Dude, I'm already an old fart. In 10 years I'll probably forget we had this conversation..

Candyman, you are a Jackass.

Hey everybody,

I'm new to the board but I found this thread while searching Google for my own website. Glad you liked the old videos. They are cool, especially seeing them driven in a way that would make most collectors cringe. I keep adding new stuff so check back often!

I am back into it after about 15 years. Man you are not lieing when you say things have changed. I remember my tamiya hornet like it was yesterday. Even built a track in my back yard, complete with jumps and tires the whole shebang. I remember trinity motors costing 80 bucks back then. I remember my first novak speed control!!! i remember the first time i had BALL BEARINGS!!!! YYIIIPPPPEEEEE!!! hell actuall oil in the shocks!! i then got a rc10 soon after, that and the ultima were the poop back then. the only nitro car i can think of back then was the javelin (i think) but man how poop has changed. My biggest gripe when i went to the hobby shop almost a decade later, is that everything comes assembled. That almost instantly turned me off. Building the model was one of the best things i can remember. But thankfully the new xray is unassembled!!!
