Thinking of selling my Savage 25

Nope, not going to sell. I just have to get the fuel tank problem solved. What kind of ofna tank do i need to buy?

I think the member named SKIP or SWEETDIESEL can help you on that. One of them have it and they both have bashed together so PM one of them

SKIP is running the OFNA tank in his midtank modded Savage. If you can fab some brackets you can probably find a way to mount it in the stock location. Personally I run the uniflow mod with my tank and it works very well. It will cost you one bic pen, 2 inches of fuel tubing, and 5.99 for a one-way valve. I will post pics tonight.

I have also heard of people running the MGT tank with success but you will also need some brackets for that installation.

One more option with no cost at all is to tune it at half tank. At full tank you will run slightly rich.

FYI The MGT tank is awesome as it has a dual pick up method to make it more desirable.

I'll be damned if this hunk of poop wont start again. I dont know what the hell the problem is. I put after run oil in it hte other day. I cleaned the carb out AGAIN and it still isnt moving fuel. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..........

Ok calm down first. I know it can be frustrating when you want to just have fun with it.

I had the same problem with mine after letting it sit without flushing out the carb. Fuel left in the tank will tend to gum up the fuel line and carb and tank.

I had it running the other day, it only sat one day and I ran it completely dry. I thought I was doing the right thing. Perhaps before I clean out the tank again I can get some info on the tank mod and do it all in one fell swoop. Also, whats the link for this mtg tank people are referring to, I can't seem to find it.

Ok here's the uniflow mod

you need some fuel tubing, one bic pen, and a one way valve. You can get your one way valve from tower or your LHS, check the RC planes section.

cut a small piece from the end of the bic pen, about 1.5 cm and insert underneath fuel tank lid

DSC_0204.webp

insert small section of tubing, about 7.5 cm and run it down the tank between one of the baffles

DSC_0206.webp

you might have to trim a little bit of the tubing, make sure it doesn't hit the bottom of the tank

DSC_0210.webp

now cut your fuel pressure line and install one way valve with the blue end towards tank, install on tank and you are done!

The line inside the tank keeps the fuel pressure level regardless of how much fuel is in the tank, and the one way valve keeps the fuel from running back into the exhaust pipe when the truck is stopped. If you don't have a one way valve you can run a 23" long fuel pressure line instead and that distance will be long enough so that fuel does not make it into the exhaust pipe. Personally I don't like the tangle of fuel line all over my Savage so I put the one way valve in there.

sorry for the horrid pictures and hope this helps! oh yeah and all credit for this mod goes to rossb!

Just completed the uni-flow mod. Going to try it out now. I shall let you know the outcome. Thanks for posting the pics, I really appreciate it.

Edit: Pics are awesome! No worries

SD where does one get that one way valve?Going to do this ASAP!

This is an awesome mod. This needs to be made into a sticky item Mod!!!
Great job!

Jon

Yes this mod does work! It has helped me out big time. You can find the one way valve at your LSH or online. It is important to note the direction of air flow on the one way valve. I almost messed that part up! :D

Are yoiu using a fuel filter? If yes replace it. That's what screwed my savage up. I didn't see anyone asking about a fuel filter. just checking
