Was running the buggy again today and again it started to idle very high.

Just after I refueled it, it lost power and then cut out. Plug blown.

We quit for the day, but when I was putting ARO in it I can't turn it fully over by hand with no plug in.

The piston isn't siezed, but it hits something solid going either way round, piston in different places depending on which way you go. One way it's just at TBC the other way it's just after BDC.

Something come off on the crank shaft like a conrod pin or is the engine likely a write off?

Wish I could get it to run right again. I can't set the idle lower or it won't run, can't set it richer or it stalls out on throttle. It's just that after it's been running a while the idle jumps very high to the point it will roll on it's own and not too much smoke either :( Unless I retune it once it starts doing that.

Maybe I should get a Pico .21 instead. Now I have a good buggy I could also dump the ansmann engine.

On that point, I think the .28 is too big for the Losi, it's way overpowered even at 75% throttle. I'm looking at .21's Pico or Navirossi the later more expensive. Does anyone know if any of the .21 pull start engines will fit in the Losi? I know I had to remove my pull strt to get the .28 in.

Any recommendations?

Paul

Okay, I opened the engine up and I have some extra bits in the crank shaft.

But... I may be lucky, I believe it's the pull start one way bearing engagment pin on the conrod that's now in several small pieces.

I'm going to clean the engine out and see if it still runs.

EDIT: Nope. The pin and spring that fell out are part of the one way system. The bits of alloy that fell out are part of the piston. The support where the pin comes through for the conrod has a chunk missing from it. New piston and slieve of a new engine.

Besides something coming apart physicaly external or internal from what you said it sounds like it was leaning out. Now is a good time to learn about your engine tear it completely down look for metal in it scoring of the cylinder or piston. Ethier repair it or replace it know what happened so it dont happen again avoid costly mistakes!(Live and learn )Some people just live!:p:

£75 for a new piston and liner.

I can get a Pico .21 for £100.

Currently looking at this:

Regarding leaning out, I agree, I think the tunning was changing completely after it starts to get hot and then it just run away overheats. Last time it was luckily just a plug, this time the piston bought it.

I probably should have run it until it got properly warmed up and retuned, but a lesson for next time.

Go with the new pico seal everything good I'm thinkin your carb may have came loose good luck with the new one!

just make sure everything will fit up alright thats a non pullstart engine i dont know if you may wana buy one with a pull start otherwise its a good engine

I'm not sure a pull start fits. The .28 pull start had to come off. Pull start would be nice for not having to carry the start box out to the field, but I can live without it and it's less to go wrong.

THATS GOOD ETHIER WAY GO WITH WHAT WILL WORK FOR YOU PULL START TO ME IS A PAIN IN THE ASS I ONLY USE THEM ON MY GAS 33cc and up
