The War is a 7 part ww2 documentary on Pbs that has been going on for the last week or so. Has anyone else been watching this? Its amazing. So many details I never knew. Have you ever heard the saying 'if you can read, thank a teacher. If you can read in English, thank a soldier'? And if anyone has doubts about nuking Japan, you need to watch this and learn. Every person in Japan down to 8 yo was trained to fight invaders to the death, and they have footage of it. Tonight is the last episode. Hopefully it will start over again, as everyone in the US needs to see this, to learn the true meaning of hardship and sacrafice.

It's another documentary from Ken Burns. As usual, ENDLESSLY researched with details long lost in history, and stories from the few surviving soldiers who were there.

i caught 1 episode this week, i turned on the tv & before i could pull up leno on the tivo
it hooked me. hope they show it again, or maybe a dvd i can rent

Never even heard of it, I'm going to have to check it out!

at first i thought you had some weird vendetta against PBS... kind of like the The War on Terror... haha.

glad to see you're not hating on the public broadcasting...

I saw the series for sale in Costco earlier today, don't remember the price.

I thought the final episode was anti-climatic. It dragged on in the second half because they had to tie up all the personal stories. But the first half was more like the previous episodes. I'm going to get the series at costco, its $60 less than at pbs.

Yeah Rolex, I'm a lousy 'friend' of pbs! Digger, they showed a lot of the aleutian stuff in the earlier episodes. I think the series starts over at the beginning tonight, but I have to watch the d-backs/cubs game instead!
