Thats unfortunate.
I have a Hakko and its awesome! Can't recommend it enough! 👍
Yea but it is very pricey. I'll stick with the ole Weller till I get moneys. After all the projects are finished. (Ps, they are never finished 🫠)

I bought mine from a 'salvage' store.
They sell buy-out from closed stores, amazon returns too I think?
Stupid deals on brand new stuff!!! 😁
I saw the name on the box and did not hesitate! 🤣
I have been keeping my eyes open for good deals there. Bought a corded Dremel with basic bits for $20, 4 case pit cart for $50 ( if I ever get to the track again it will ROCK!!! 😎)
I have spent and saved thousands there!
I love and hate that store!!! 🤣
No, the projects NEVER end!
I feel like I could be in an entirely open, empty, white, blank room and in 5 mins I'll have figured out something that needs fixing or straightening or cleaning! 🤣

Well technically this thread is in the classifieds 😉🫠 JK I'll put it in there.

Going back to the ole Weller station even though it's 25 years old and a lower wattage, it stays consistent with the heat. This one the blue one sometimes it likes to work sometimes it doesn't. Like solder would melt on the tip but when you go to solder something to a part it would barely heat it back up again. Even at full blast. Like it worked when I soldered a old motor back up and worked fine but soldering 2 new motors it didn't like to corporate with me that day. Sooo. 🤷 I think that's why I can't solder. Imo probably not the best for large wire but if for smaller wire or micro boards it should be fine. Payed 40 bucks for it so. I get what I get.
What tip were you using? It sounds like your tip is too small for the task.

The tip that it came with it on the iron itself. I'll see if any of the other tips can work.
You need to always use the biggest tip that you can to get the job done. That keeps the heat in the iron better. When Grey told me to get the Hakko 6.5mm tip, it made a big difference in my soldering of 10awg+ vs the 5mm tip I had.
