Novarossi P5x TNT Modified :breakdown

Awaiting JP-1 pipe, and for it to dry outside.

I've already driven the car with my friends p5x and it was very nice, the bottom end is incredible, and that was with a piece of crap pipe.

It looks so pritty sitting there, should look better with a shiny pipe.

It needs to stop raining here! I have before the weekend to get this thing broken in for practice.

Me as well. The JP pipes are not the best for milage though. Is there a reason you went with the JP-1 VS the JP-2?

I read a review on RCCA and it seems that the fuel mileage suffered only because the power transfer to the wheels was not as blunt but more linear. The driver was able to keep more power to the wheels without braking so much. This wans done to an OC CVR 15 though. I am not sure what the result would be on a big block mill. Curious to find outl.

I went with the JP-1 because my track is basically all bottom end motor, short straights to big jumps, and a short straight.

I know this engine will be ballistic. Armand, AKA OneBigMan races his CRT with a modified p5. People are always asking him what motor he uses because it kills everyone else. Fuel milage is about 10 min with a jp pipe. My engine was modified with a chosen v.2 mod, which produces a lot more rpm and torque than the previous mod. It would have been released earlier but the public can do some stupid things such as running it with no load, wot. This could easily blow the engine with this kind of mod.

I'm getting everything installed as we speak.

I'll keep you guys updated.

COOL, too bad Armand gets hammered on the Grid sooooo much on the TNT thread. Let us know how it turns out.

The Grid being a forum? I'm confused.

I'm going out now to do half the breakin before work. TNT mods really does help, and it doesn't decrease lifespan, I don't see anything negative about it. If they have something so against it, why don't they race him, Armand is a kicka** driver, and his motor would probably blow them away ;)

Yes the grid is another forum, but lets just say the topic was way overanalyzed. People brought up the physics of these engines and all, not even worth talking about. I say let his work speak for itself!

I got about 3 tanks with it today, just about half way done with the initial break in. I'm using the Johnny Cool Guy Track Site recommendation, as I suppose is what most pros use. Its basically just like the heat cycle, and it worked great on my friends p5x.

I could most definitely tell this engine has a whole lot more power to it, and it's still very rich. Can't wait to open her up.

Follow up:

Finished breaking in the engine today, and didn't have the time to get it fully tuned. Though, I thought a p5x had a smooth powerband, this thing just glides up the powerband, its so smooth. Fuel economy was noticeably longer than the stock p5x. And the power was definitely there over the p5x in the breakin progress. I have to wait for this thing to loosen up though, and I need to tune it, I can tell it's just going to scream when I get it tuned. I hope I can use a car to get to the track this saturday and test it out.

JP-1 pipe is also VERY nice.

I know this is off topic, but I'm seriously considering joining the Starting Grid, I think it will help me out with my first serious year of racing. I understand setups and all, but this should get me off well. I guess I'm asking, is it worth it? Do they really have good info there?
