I have probably tried to instal maybe 4 engines since I got into this hobby. None of these installation went untouched and were all re-done by the wiz kid at the LHS. I think its all about cutting the crank.

I want to install an O.S. .15 CV-R into my RC10GT. I want to do it right and do it myself because I feel if the wiz kid could do it then so could I. What is the mystery of cutting the crank and properly installing an engine?

Can you folks please give me some solid advice with reason instead of the mystery meat I get athe LHS?

elburro - if you order the SG (short crank) version of the OS CV-R engine, then you DO NOT need to cut the crankshaft. This is only required with the standard crank.

are you getting the 10A slide carb, or the 10C rotary carb?

Definitely the rotary carb. So if I get the (S) version of the .15 CV-R, I shouldn't have to do anything but mount the usual stuff on the crank (flywheel, clutch Etc.), bolt the engine in, adjust the gear mesh and tighten it down?

if u already have an engine in it now, then that is correct. it will be a direct bolt in with no mods.
