hey guys...i just got a xl5 stampede today and i have a few questions about batteries...i want to get a good long run time from this thing and I'm sure i need to get better batteries...and i know absolutly nothing about them so i need a little help...
what kind of battery do you guys recommed...
if i get a lipo is there anything special i need to use it other than a lipo charger...
thanks for the help

You would need a balance/charger for the LiPo. All you really need is a good high capacity NiMH for your rig. A good 4000+ mAH pack should be all you need for good run times.

ok so i don't need any kinda regulator to run a lipo on the titan brushed motor...
seems like i read something about having to have some kind of limiter when you use them with a brushed set up...
what would the advantages to a lipo be with my truck...
would it even be worth getting a lipo for a brushed motor...
also...i see you can get 7.2 or 8.4 volt batteries in the NiMH...what are the benifits of the 8.4 over the 7.2..
thanks

More Voltage=More RPM on the motor. On most brushed setups you would need a LiPo cutoff to prevent over discharging the battery. Until you get a brushless setup on the Stampede, I wouldn't worry about LiPos.

ok man...thanks...

a lipo can't drop below 3volts per cell if it does, it's ruined. which means you can never run them dead like a ni-mh or ni-cd pack. they have lipo cutoffs as states above, these tell you when the battery is low and you need to unplug the pack let it cool off if warm and charge it.

to charge it as stated above, you will need a lipo charger and blancer or a charger with a balancer built in. this balances the cells while they are charging so the cells all get charged the same. over charging a lipo can result in a flash fire.

ok i got my little pede in yesterday evening...after reading a bit i found that the esc already has a low voltage cut off built in which can be switched on and off...its off now as i only have the battery that was supplied...a 3000mah NiMH...
the box and literature said is was brushless ready....what does this mean other than it already has the low voltage cut off....does it have any of the necessary drive train upgrades preinstalled...or is that all up to me...lol
