ok I've got my t-maxx running very nicely(for now) but i want another truck!!
I've got the cash, so thats not a problem but, my very narrow minded opinion about xtm is slowing down the decision maker. wether you own one or not what is your opinion on the mamoth.
I've driven three and was pretty impressed (after i tuned it of course, little kids need to learn to tune or get an electric sheesh) but i thought it was pretty neat and then i started researching the truck. well as every good search ends i need some educated opinions(thats you guys) so what do you think yay or nay or p.o.s?? thanx in advance. bbtg

The only things I have to help you with is the fact that I bought a 21 conversion kit from XTM. Not the best, but it was the cheapest I have found.

The cvd's were weak. The holes were off here and there. The instructions were pretty much useless.

After a few hours, a dremel and a few curse's, I have had more fun than I ever would have had with a stock maxx.

A guy came in the store yesterday with a Mammoth looking for parts...nada for XTM around here. Some generic things you can get at any hobby store are electronics (radio, servos, recievers), exhaust pipes, air filters, screws.
He said he loved the truck. He said it was quick and somewhat durable, even though he had broken a few things on it (front bumper, bent a shock shaft, a-arms).
If it were me, I'd personally pass on the Mammoth and go with an MGT or a Savage. And if you can stand the wait, I'd wait for the Losi MT to come out...that thing looks bada$$ for sure.

i have really heard of the mammoth, but hell if you want it, GO FOR IT! my savage is in the shop becuase i can't tune worth of crap, so you are right about kids and there tuning.

Hmmm only thing I know about the mammoth is it has the 247 a very sought after motor by quite a few guys. I want one that's for sure. A guy at my LHS is doing up a Mammoth dual engine 24/7 setup that looks sweet for sure. He had a brand new chassis custom milled by one of his neighbors that is a machinist and it looked hella dope. I think it was like 5mm thick. To handle the torque of both of them.

Suggestion is to stay clear of the maxx if you want big HP. The losi looks prone to breakage for the basher, but if your a racer it would probably be a good choice.

The savage is a good choice. Lots of parts everywhere.

I'm getting the Mammoth in a couple of weeks. I like that it's bigger than the othe MT's and the speed.

I think your biggest hurdle on this one will be parts availability. Not too many after market parts makers out there, and stock parts availability is area specific. Looks like it would be a good truck, but I would steer clear just because of the lack of parts in my area.

MY uncle has a mammoth. While those 24.7s put out alot of power in a buggy they seem to underpowered for a truck that big. They are heavy and whent hey land i close my eyes everytime because of the horrible sound they make, it sounds like that break in half. Just too big in my taste.

Online service from XTM rates a 10 out of 10. I private messaged a PR guy on their web board.

Three days later, 2 new a-arms and 2 new spur gears arrived at my door.

Their message board is overun by new guys asking silly repetative questions. The staff answers every question, no matter how hard to understand, or obvious the question is.

If their is ANY doubt the problem is on their end, they will take care of it, no questions asked.

I never sent pictures of my broken parts, nor returned them. I guess I am saying I didn't have to prove my "worthyness" as an important customer. They gave me the benfiet of the doubt.

Whenever XTM has a product that is in the genre I am interested in, XTM gets the buy.

A choice between MT's I'm getting a mammoth.
A choice bewtween ST's I'm getting the X-cellerator
A choice in buggies, I'm getting a X-terminator.

The only way I won't by XTM is if I am either in the used market(go for value), or they don't have what I am after.

Not sure if this is any importance from you but here is a picture of my uncles. Thought you should see one in the wild, lol.

I'm not sure about the mammoth but i love my savage and have my eyes on the monster gt also......:hypno:

well good opinions... the thing i noticed that you guys said the most was parts availibility, well at my shop the mamoth is a fairly good seller and breaker so we have about 4 or more of pretty much every piece on the mamoth , so parts arent an issue. I've also noticed that like nnf said the 24/7 is a very sought after engine,( i sell at least 4 a month at my shop.) so one last push(sorry guys) parts available good engine, excellent cs , what do you think?? I'm leanin towards gettin one??:radio:

well I've got one on order it will be here by thursday!! we have one in stock but its the only one and since i get stuff at cost my boss said if theres only one of something left, its for customers only unless i want to pay full price for it. but when i get i will update right away!!

Ok so how doe s it perform, and how durable is it? Not many mammoth owners here ;)

I have a mammoth and it's off the chain! Speed is outstanding. The shock towers are suspect(I've bent them once). The 24.7 is a great performance engine and very easy to tune. The gas tank is too small(120cc) but nothing a mod can't fix. You will be very happy with it right out of the box. Make sure you loctite everything though stuff rattles loose easy. ONE!!

Speed is actually rediculous. It is geared unbelievably fast. It will be great for bashers in big open fields, but it is too tall for a normal rc track. The power is good for sure.
