hey
I'm looking at buying a firestorm from HPI as my first RC
is it generaly good for doing poop on dirt and sometimes road and what not?
has anyone got any tips?
I'm going to buy it RTR do i have to tune it?
and in australian dollars how much is it roughly because i dont know the conversion from american to aussie
and just anything in general about it would be cool

Hi Timmy. Divide the price in American by our dollar. Today about .91c. That makes it about $275 at Tower hobbies. Postage will be around 100-150 for a 1/10th. See if A main has one, cause generally they are cheaper than Towers. If not on item price, certainly on postage.
You will have to tune it. Nitro is difficult for beginners but if you really want to do it go for it, and ask questions before you get frustrated, or you will give it up prematurely.

i'd be pretty delicate with the break in and the tuning with my first one so yeah
what would be fastest out of the firestorm, MT 2 18SS+, or MT 2 G3.0?
i'd like to generally bash it around in mud and stuff but fast!!?
and can you upgrade them eventually?

If your just looking into bashing around in mudd and dont want to worry about breaking anything, and want plenty of hop ups, why not just look into the savage? Just a thought. My neighbors friend has a firestorm though, and its a pretty quick little truck, looks fast and fun anyway. All nitro mills have to be tuned eventually, but youll get the hang of it.

you would still have to tune it even though its RTR, also it is good on dirt and road too:yes:

good on dirt and road which one?
the MGT or the firestrom?
the MGT from the URLs above

HAHAHA i still can't make up my mind
i remember seeing a picture of a buggy looking RC kinda like the firestrom but not as monster truck looking lol if you can get the picture
and it was going around in the mud flinging it everywhere
it was on this site but i can't find it
it was awesome
thats what i wanna do?
and I'm not a big fan of the monster trucks
like something that was powerful, good at ripping up the ground and strong?
i hope that helps
it probably doesn't

put forward your opinion
lol wouldnt wanna regret buying the wrong one

The MGT is Team Associated. Its good gear. Strong, good backup and reliable.
The HPI Firestorm is very much the lesser rig of the two.

i have the firestorm and my buddy owns the mini mgt and i'd sooner have the mgt but firestorm is the more novice of the 2 as for working on them the firestorm is pretty straight forward (not to say it isnt a good car) the mgt also has 4 wheel drive the firestorm does not as most other guys will tell u see which car ur lhs stocks parts for and go with it. my firestorm is glued together waitin for a bulkhead because of this very problem so like the above poster said the firestorm is def the lesser of the 2 in my opinion as well.
HTH

oh and a side note about which is fastest if this is ur first rc dont pay attention to speed ne 1/10 truck will be fast enuff for u til u actually learn to handle it then u can upgrade and worry about speed .i was the same almost made the mistake of buying a 3.3 jato just because i saw the 65 mph tag and had wood for that kinda speed but i got a firestorm and its still enuff power that i smashed it in 2 days fixed it then drowned it the week after in water filled ditch pulled it out stripped it and replaced the servos after i totally cleaned the motor and its still runnin i have renamed it frankenstorm

yeah ill probably get an MGT
but whats the diff between 8.0 and 3.0?

and does anyone know how i can get one in australia?

thanks for the help everyone

Since its your first I'd go with the 3.0. I dont even know why cause its probably just as fast, but MAYBE easier to handle.
I say MAYBE 'cause the 8.0 handles exceptionally well. Obviously it is more expensive but it is a whole lot more truck.
Good luck mate..

I get really good discounts from my LHS but I've bought 10 or 12 through A Main and Tower Hobbies. A Main is very good and you will have your product usually within the week. Towers is also very fast but they cgarge a little more on postage.
The postage on 1/8 is approx $200, and 1/10 around $160. It sounds a lot but when you add it to the price, and considering the dollar is at .95-.96c its atually cheaper than local. Not to mention that with new release cars you can get them a month or more before anyone else.
