Ok, Sold off all my nitro stuff (Don't ask why) and been contemplating getting into some electrics. Then a call to the bay area to a buddy of mine, Well..here I go again. Thanks their Sweetdiesel. The problem is I know nothing about electrics. I know if I did go into it, I think I want brushless. But is brushless more maintance than non brushless. I know they are more money. Plus I have to keep peace with my neighbors. I think I would like to go to on road, just due to the fact I did off road before with the gas vehicles. So, can anyone give me any ideas of the direction I should head in. Also does the Ice Charger charge lipo batts.

The ICE charger DOES charge Lipos...
As far as Brushless goes, I was told that the motors require no maintenance as opposed to brushed motors which require routine cleaning and oiling.. Seems most brushless setups are bought from Castle Creations.. The MAMBA series..
I think Zandor had a setup for sale on the forum..

Glad you are sticking around Dan. TJ is correct on all accounts. What scale do you plan on running?1/18, 1/10, 1/12, 1/8 custom? Mamba packages are very nice and user friendly. The setup Zandor had for sale was for minis. There is now a line of Mamba Max systems for use in 1/10 scale cars. I would figure out what scale you want to run, then set a budget and go from there.

On the phone you mentioned you want to get into touring cars. Is this still the case? For a basher I would look into getting an emaxx or e-zilla/e-savage. Drop a brushless system in any of those and watch your jaw drop.

There's also a conversion kit for the Revo and it was reviewed in the latest XRC, thing was flippin' UNREAL! I also believe there was an electric brushless LST2 that was smoking the field as well! If you're thinking going touring cars, I've heard great things about the T4.

Good you're sticking around, my friend! Have fun!

Thanks guys, Yea I had metioned touring cars, but to tell you the truth, I'm just not sure. The dirt rigs were fun. I am going to have to get with someone on the site here that knows there stuff, cause I know :horsecrap about electrics. So back to school I go. So we will see what happens in the next little while. But I know one thing....I'd miss everyone here to much to just say syanara :D

Brushless dont really require any maintenance, brushed you have to cut the comm, oil, clean, and change brushes every so often. Brushless are faster and usually get longer run times than brushed, but you need at least some decent packs to get full potential.

Mamba is the most popular for the mini's, however there are more out there.

As for 1/10 scale like touring or st's, look into the novak systems.

And if you go brushless on the big things like an emaxx or savage conversion, you are going to need to buy the powerful stuff like the fiego's and Dual Battery packs to power it.

Who's making the ELECTRIC 1/8th scale buggies? I heard something about these somewhere....

I dont know about an electric 1/8 buggy, however they arent that heavy so you wouldnt need the high end brushless systems, maybe one of the smaller brushless. I made this about a week ago, but had to stop because I didnt have the right pinion to match up with the center diff:

You actually did that Pat????

Brushless requires little to zero maintnance and is alot faster than some brushed. I'd get one if I had some money.

You need a mod1 pinion. Starluck RC and rc-monster carry them for around 12 each. How well does your buggy run with that motor?

yea, i guess i didnt say i needed a mod 1 pinion. Why are mod1's so expensive? I may have to pick one up and try it. I dont know how well it performs because i didnt have a pinion. I would assume it would work with that motor and all, but nothing too amazing.
