i just got back from my lhs and i thought that running an engine at 220 to 260 was acceptable from people on this forum said, my lhs said to run it to 230 big max. whtas the deal , is there difference between canada and the states temperature?

well tennesse tends to be about 40 degrees warmer than canada..I'm j/k.. i think should be fine.. just make sure the engine is tuned

ya cause if he said that 230 was the max temp. to go than i've been runnig my wat to hot then , could this of caused poopy running conditions

depends on weather conditions.. I've been to canada a few times and it is real cold up there.. what temp are u running?

bud, it sounds like your fine! Just in case, what engine are you running?

Your fine, as long as you are leaving a good smoke trail. If it's really cold and your running that hot it may be on the lean side. If your running a Traxxas mill your fine, running at 270 to 280 is not uncommon. Once you get some experience under your belt you'll use temp as a general reference anyway and tune by sound and smoke trail.

the traxxas revo trx 3.3 and my hobby dealer said that 230 was the maximum that i should go

these days it wasn't to cold out about 40 -45 , for me its not cold , but i burnt out 2 plugs in 5 mins, could be my tuning ,

I don't know where exactly you are in canada but the elavation can make a huge difference. As a general rule your nitro engine should run about 170 degrees above the air tempature. so on a 45 degree day you should be around 215 for an optimum engine temp. your weather is very similar to what we are having here, right now my engines are screaming at 170 to 180 engine temp.

montreal my friend

ya i ordered the ones from taxxas #3232 the original ones that came with it, its the only ones that performed well on the revo, i'm using the trinity pipe with 25% when its running fine it sounds crazy , but when it sucks well it just sucks!

Your prolly a little lean on the bottom if your smoking plugs like that, maybe on top too. Richen both an hour and go from there. FME, the traxxas plugs are junk, McCoy MC-59 was a much better plug.

Heh, the goal is to get the engine above 200-210. 180 is probably causing premature wear and going to make it run bad when things start heating up...

could it be that if I'm too rich it could burn the plugs also? anywys thats what my lhs told me unless they are feading me bullshit info , (excuse the language)

Too rich shouldn't burn up the plugs, so to speak... It would cause fouling (dark, wet plug). What does it look like? Are the coils broken, is the element white? Dark?

ya the bottom is like a brown color, and usuall y wet , and the wire is slighty burnt, i took of the head an the oiston is brown normal or not? i might have to replace my piston instead of the engine like i was thinking of doing.

It does sound like it is running too rich.

Although, your temps tell different. Strange. Any air leaks? Have you sealed the backplate and carb neck? How about replacing the fuel lines?

i havent done any of those I'm not too sure what to use I'm still learning this sport and my break in wasn't exactly that great either , doesn't help i guess
