Hey guyz, I'm thinkin of putting my packs away for like a year or so. Will any thing happen to them? Do they have to be fully charged or not charged to store them away? Also, my battery packs have SP Version printed on them. What does that mean? I'd appreciate your knowledge.

SP version? Not compatible with Windows XP Pro. (kidding...I have no idea)

NiCads can NOT be stored for long periods of time without recharging periodically. NiMh drains quickly, that's why it's recommended to recharge them either the night before, or the day you plan to use them, but I don't know if long term storage would damage them. A couple of my cordless tools use NiCads, and my big screw gun uses NiMh. If I haven't used it in a few weeks, both batts are stone dead. It's annoying, since I'm used to NiCads still having a pretty decent charge left in them, but they always charge up fine again.
Just to be on the safe side, if you don't plan on using them for a year or so, why not sell them and buy new ones when you need them?
