tank

i have a force 28 in my savage and when i get free time i go out and run on tar and out at our track. lately weve been running on tar so i have been trying to get it as fast a possible. i noticed with my stock tank that it had a leak so i my frined gave me a mount to use a ofna 145 tank and the engine seems to go much higher in the rpm's. and has much more power than it has ever had even when the stock tank was good. i was just wondering what could have made the difference and if there is a tank and a mount for the savage that works good without using a mid tank mod and keeps close to the side of the truck. i dont like have the tank hang out so far on the truck.

Chances are it's just running better because it's had enough fuel through it. Most engines don't achieve their peak performance till they've run a couple of gallons. Other than the leak, a different tank wouldn't make much difference.

With that said, you may just be noticing that with the new tank your performance level isn't changing much from full to empty compared to the stock tank. The stock tank with a good tune was rich when full, lean when almost empty and good from about 1/4 empty to 3/4 empty.

That was one of the first things I changed out on my savage when I got it. I made my own mounts out of 1/8" steel plate and mounted it near the stock location using the OFNA 30280 125CC tank.

just curious what kind of speed your getting out of your truck with that .28??

if your talking high speed i couldn't really tell yeah, well the force 28 is just the ofna version of the 4.6 and i have 17/49 gearing with a 3 speed trany, so prob faster a little faster than a 4.6 truck, i low it i have tons of low end power, and good top end speed for a savy. i raced my friends stock lst2 and won in a drag race
