Does anyone know if the Tamiya Silver Can can be disassembled? I think a screw or some other part got into the hole so I want to get it out, but there are no screws that you can use to remove everything from the can. It's a basic motor that can't be modified, but I think there is a way to open it up. Anybody know how? Thanks!

You could disassemble it, but believe me, it's not easy. You would be better off trying to use thin tweezers, or scrapping that RTR motor altogether.

However, if you do want to crack it open, you could simply tap the motor shaft-down on a surface that you don't care about (block of wood works great). With a sealed motor like that, however, brushes are a little tricky to deal with.

To re-seal the motor, make sure that when you assemble it, the positive and negative tabs are in the same alignment (mark the can first). Then replace the lid and use a hammer and punch to GENTLY press the tabs back down.

Remember, if you choose to crack it open, you run the risk of permanently messing it over.

Hmm, I guess it would best to just buy a new motor. I'm going to the LHS tomorrow so why not. Thanks for the tip though!

No problem. I used to rewind old motors all the time. The first motor I ever re-wound was a trinity slot machine. I rewound it from a 27t stock to a 9t mod. That thing was fast. Didn't last very long, but it was worth the learning experience.
