5 years old, I doubt seriously is they even make parts for it anymore. Might be time to upgrade to something newer.
Now that I have a few seconds to think I imagine you can still replace the motor, ESC, pinion gear and batteries. Those ought to give you a fresh perspective on it's life.

The Manta ray is an old design going back around fifteen years as I recall. Tamiya did re-release it as a super Manta Ray a few years ago. Same car but built, with radio installed and a few different colour bits as far as I can tell. Parts are still avaliable in places like eBay and I suspect via the Tamia club but not sure if you have to join? I have a friend with an almost complete car if you need lots of bits. I'm sure he would be willing to sell if the price were right.

The Manta Ray also shares alot of parts with the Dirt Thrasher and you can find parts on Towerhobbies.com. With a new ESC and motor you will breath new life into your old ride. I put a new ESC and 27 turn modded motor on mine and it flies. So far I have kept up with every TC3 I've dragged. They with foams and 10-12 turn motors. Me with stock nubbies and a 27 turn. Theres no way I could win a race on a course mind you but straight line drag racing I've won almost every time. This from a cheepo $99 Tamiya kit and another $200 in motor and ESC.

lol I dont know part numbers or anything cause i bought those about a year and a half ago.
I know its a duratrax ESC rated down to 16 turns and the motor is a 27 turn Trinity in a green can but I'm not sure which one. I had the guy at the LHS cut the comm and put honeycomb brushes on it. I got a set of deans plugs and I went up to 14guage wire with 3000Mah NiMh 6-cell packs.

I'm not calling any bs or anything so please don't take it that way. But I thought lower turn motors like 10t were insanely powered, so how would your 27t motor possibly keep up? I thought the higher the turn the more torque but less top end, and the lower the turn the less torque but the higher the top end. Is that right?
