Hello everyone, I’m planning to start a project, but there isn’t much concrete information about similar builds. To avoid shooting in the dark when buying parts, I first want to hear real advice from experienced builders.
The idea is to assemble a 6x2 Scania 770 with a liftable rear axle, based on Tamiya (cab and chassis), but using fully metal axles with air suspension, metal rims, and Michelin tires. Using the Tamiya Scania S770 6x4 as a base, since they don’t make a 6x2 version.
The setup would be:
– First axle: non-driven steering axle
– Second axle: driven
– Third axle: non-driven lift axle without a differential
All axles must be on air suspension.
I want to understand which components from which manufacturers are fully compatible with each other. The reliable brands I’m considering are Lesu and ScaleClub. But I haven’t found any build online that matches exactly what I want to create, and I really don’t want to end up buying parts that turn out to be incompatible, forcing me to drill or modify something and ending up with a crooked model.
I’m asking the experts to help me sort this out.
I’ve built Vanquish crawlers before, but I’ve never worked with Tamiya until now.
