I'm a newbie to this hobby and excited about it, but my neighbors say that I'm stupid for spending that much on the gas. However, when I run my truck, they like to stand around and watch. Is $25 a gallon of Rocket Science Fuel too much? That is what my LHS carries. Anyways, are they just jealous or what? Well, I could care less, I'm just wondering if any of you have ever been made fun of. I've just about had it!! I'm gonna have to :boxing: !!!!!

$25 a gallon for nitro is not too bad at all.

As for those that make fun, ignore them and have a blast with your RC. At least you are enjoying your hobby.

I pay $25 a gallon roughly but I find it a small price to pay compared to the rest of the hobby.

one gallon of fuel last me a long time....sometimes 2 months. latley I've only been running about twice a week, but i do own 5 nitros that guzzle fuel (all big blocks) and even then i get great runtime per gallon. the price for fuel here of 22$ for 30% monster HP is easily worth how much fun i get out of my nitros. your neighbor needs his house tee-pee'd if he called you stupid for doing a hobby you like.

Don't worry about them. At least you have an r/c to mess around with while they stand by the way side. If they ask to try out your r/c, charge em for gas.

You guys are getting your Nitro really cheap. I pay $30 for 4 quarts of 20% O'Donnel at TowerHobbies and my LHS is more expensive than that.

Well that's why, Odonnel is the best (racer fuel imo) and it comes with a heftier price tag. I am talking about plain ol Blue Thunder.

O'Donnel 30%, $29.95 for 1 gallon of at the lhs. A little less for 20%. One of the least expensive parts of this hobby.

2520 yen for 2 liters of 20% Cosmo nitro fuel here in Japan! Talk about expensive! Not to mention I have to scour (sp??) the island for it!

3.79 liters = 1 gallon.
2 liters at 2520 yen / 111.07 exchange rate = $22.69 is almost twice the price paid state side.

Hey StrechM,
The yen rate is actually like 106 here, but who's counting?? Yeah, gas here is twice as much! I try to conserve, which is running a few days before we have a bash just to make sure everything is working fine. Then of course the actual bash day. Other than that, I don't hardly ever run. Unless of course I just feel the urge! I recently had to break in a new engine. Talk about a waste of nitro fuel.

USN, and just doing my duty for 11 years now. Looks like its going to be a career!! Can't complain though, I love it!! Would not change anything for a moment!!

I get back to the land of the big Post Exchange (USA), in December. I can't wait. Been here for 3 1/2 years almost!!

well think of it this way also, these neighbors are probably the same people who if they had an e-maxx would only have 1 set of battaries and a butt slow charger, so they would get a 7 to 10 minute run then 1/2 hr wait then another 7 to 10 minute run :P

Hey guys, thanks for responding. Hey alkyula, my neighbor's house did get tee-pee'd. LoL! Oh poop, I hope he doesn't know about this forum! Diver, you got a point. If they ever ask to use my truck in the future, I will charge them. Thanks again guys!!

Laterzzz ;)

Sorry about that. I accidently posted twice. Oh well, poop happens!!

:stupid:

$25 a gallon? I wish we could get fuel for those prices.

We were getting Wildcat 20% fuel for a while @ $33 per gallon (a little better) - I was importing it along with the rest of the club fuel. Only problem there was the minimum order of 4 cases became a bit much to bear, as I had to sit on it for 6+ months as guys would only buy a gallon at a time....

We currently pay $35 for a gallon of O'Donnell 20% from a local shop. His normal price is $40 a gallon, but I was able to negotiate a club price break.

ok now something is wrong here because i pay 23.00 for a gal of O'Donnell 20% and i live in hawaii in which the fuel needs to be flew in, why is that? someones screwing someone
