I am thinking of getting some UE shocks for my maxx and selling my integy ones. Should i get 4 or 8 shocks? My truck is pretty heavy, but i would like some help here.
 
Yes I had 4 for my old Tmaxx and that thing took a beating. It was the 2.5 version but depending how you drive your ride you may want to try out different suspension settings.
 
The Supermaxx's would be good, But their are some cheaper ones by OFNA. Not cheaper in quality but in $. Just my .2c
 
I have seen a member here that had 8 on is ride but not sure who. He dropped his from his roof which was about 7-9 feet high. If you run 8 I would not run high weight in oil.
 
What do you consider big jumping? I tokk my tmaxx at WOT and hit the jump, launched me at close to 15 feet high and about 25-30 feet in distance.
 
Yeah, thats pretty much it. Thats probably the highest i would go. Do you run 4 shocks?
 
Well I don't have that anymore but I did run 4, one in each corner. very strong set up.
 
Tip:
the UE Shocks are OFNA supershocks...find em on E-bay for about 25bucks a set (2)...if you read the UE site they even says that's what they are......I use the Kyosho shocks they take more abuse than the OFNA ones bu thtey dont have a threaded body, so If I want to adjust em I have either clips (I don't trust them) or change oil/spring rates to tune em....but I run 4 kyosho and 4 MRS-2 w/ the trinity dual spring set on those.....they are older cheaper shocks w/ threaded bodies so I have some adjustability to fine tune and they also act as a sag limiter....I've wailed that thing over my real truck at construction sites and they havn't blown out yet...but the integy shocks are pretty hooked up to...I set them up w/ rpm dual stage piston heads / 40 weight oil and the blue/yellow spring set up from trinity....then the kyosho's I run white kyosho springs w/ 35wt oil....I fiddled w/ stuff I had to come up w/ this combo cause I thought I could use 4 kyosho shocks but I bottomed out a lot to the point of stopping my spur gear (yes it's above the chassis).....but everyone uses different stuff right...get a whole mess of oils and springs and try diff combos would be my recommendation
 
I ran the UESuperMaxx Shocks on my xtm 21 converted maxx when I had it. 10-12 feet was the most air I normally got under it and it put up with it well. I only bent one shock shaft and that's when I hit a lump in the ground at WOT and it cartwheeled about 40 yards. The first impact in the cartwheel was one of the front tires, then it shot up in the air about 6 feet and landed on the other one when it came down... very bad day.

My maxx weighed around 14lbs and I only ran 4 with the navy springs that come with them and 50 weight oil.

I now run the same set on my savage. I run the same navy springs, but I lessened the oil to 40 weight. It gives it a much more plush feel and handles a little more like a stock savage.

The shocks have 7 gallons run through them and have yet to start leaking. The only thing I did that was different is I didn't install the air bladder in them because they annoy me. I just filled the shock until it was almost level with the shaft pushed half way in. Then I capped them and installed them. To get a consistant feel for bashing, I bounce the truck up and down a few times to get the air/oil mixed, then they feel smooth without any dead spots.
 
Plaidfish, what kind of oil do u use in your diffs? I am going to be using the UE 8 spider diffs.
 
Does anyone have any experience with the Progressive Suspension EDC shocks? I'm enroute to purchasing a Supermaxx with these shocks and was wondering how they compare to the Supershocks....?....
 
I was looking on ebay and i ran across Ofna 9.5 threaded buggy shocks. I put in a bid only realizing that they were for the front. Wow, I'm stupid, is the front shorter than the rear?

In my buggy right now I hace 5k-8k-1k....that's front - center - rear....in my mutant maxx I'm still trying to find a good combo but from what I've seen other people say I should be around 15k-30-k-8k....I'm still playing w/ clutch and bearing issues so I don't get much testing w/ that yet.....but I'm currently using 10k-20k-3k and I think I like that the best from what I've tried......in my T-maxx just use lithium or white grease....campy grease from the bike shop.......you have to see what suits your driving style.......I like stuff that grabs a little more than most cause I like the ass to slide around more from power.....try different weights I know it's a pain in the ass but you get a better feel for your equipment that way.....

and as far as usig short shocks....Only if your setting your maxx up like a stadium truck and want it to sit low.....
 
Rats, i will have to cancel my bid then ( i hate doing that!). What shocks do i use for the maxx? The rear ofna threaded shocks for the 9.5? Input please?
