alright battery strap is done. if you look close you'll see i put foam under it to press against the battery so it can't flop around in there. so while the truck is finished it was recently brought to my attention that i went full dyslexia on the wheels and got rears in stead of fronts. so the wheels rub the arms and the turning radius sucks. so ill buy the right wheels and another set of tires and the front track width will just be wider than the rear, i don't care.
and i guess i need to program the ESC cause the brakes sucks.

alright, i was "finished" with all my other RC projects/"restorations". so i decided to do something iv been wanting to do for decades. build a "winter beater", a truck i give absolutely zero fornications about. drive it hard and put it away wet. splash it through mud and puddles without fear of consequence. found this 2wd monster truck on epay for $60 with free shipping. it's not much, but here's my starting point.
going to hop it up a little. RPM arms (long arms on the front), RPM gearbox housing, probably RPM front bearing carriers (not sure about caster blocks), RPM body mounts. maybe stainless hex screw kit. captured hinge pins are probably a good idea. ill put up with the stock shocks and dumbass telescoping driveshafts until they start failing. i need to crack the gearbox open to see what idler gear is in it. it'll probably have to be upgraded as well. don't know what ill do for electrics yet but they'll have to be "waterproof".

Like your SCTs 😆
SC10 is about 4 feet behind me :hehe:

in other news i made the chassis fit a modern lipo and found out the front shock tower is cracked  filled the webbing with super glue and baking soda, after i put the body mount back on it should brace it up enough to hold out for a little while. iv also started swapping out some of the screws with leftover stainless hex screws. and made a pretty good parts order. next weekend it might resemble a monster truck again.

so it kinda looks like a truck again.
and I'm having some issues:
i had to grind the rear suspension arm (where it mounts to the toe block) to make it fit the RPM parts. couldn't get the hinge pin in without doing it.
can't get the RPM bearing carrier to fit the stock caster block for some reason. they just flat don't fit/line up, stock caster blocks may be bent/warped... the king pins were bent on both sides. oddly enough, the E clips were still in place.
I'm also 2 front wheel bearings short. so that kinda sucks.
surprising news, i found out the front shocks are aluminum (bodies and caps). bottom loaders like old AE shocks. idk what's up with that.

Is that something like 3/16" fiberglass being used? Looks great. I may have to do something similar if I can't find stock battery strap.

1/8" fiberglass. drew that up and cut it out on the CNC at work.

RPM caster blocks, new Hot Racing king pins, and longer front links installed (but not adjusted). also got the toe links. and RPM Revolver wheels installed.
not pictured cause it isn't cut or mounted or painted yet. i cheaped out on the body, i was originally going to run Team Bluegroove's Kyosho Hi Rider corvette body with no blower. but Amain had the Jconcepts Hunter body for $25 and it's based off a Toyota, and i like cheap and i like Toyota trucks so i went that route.

Looks like you might just build a real truck out of this thing!!! 😎👍
I always thought a Vette body on an MT would be cool but I can't see any of the fiberglass lasting more than a jump or 2 before turning to powder! 🤣
I bet it will look great when its done.
I'm looking forward to seeing a running vid on this build! 😎👍

went ahead and put the RPM front shock tower on it (don't remember if i mentioned it, found out the original was cracked when i took the front body mount off. glued the tower back together with super blue and baking soda) had to grind the new tower down a bit for servo clearance (would have had to grind the original as well, that's how this whole process started)
installed the servo.
threw my custom made fiberglass battery strap on it.
installed the motor.
raised the rear body mount (need to raise the front still, tires are going to hit)
put the tires on the rims (haven't glued them yet)
gave it a semi decent eyeball front end alignment.

need to make an ESC/receiver/rear battery hold down try. but my garage is 93 degrees right now and mosquitos are after me so maybe ill start that later. idk.
