So today I received my FOC for my LST, this was the missing parts I needed to get it running again........new motor ready for break-in. I got the FOC installed and was putting the tranny in. Anyone that is familiar with an LST1 knows that the screws use a tiny allen wrench. I managed to strip out one of the screws that I need to remove in order to install the tranny so I broke out my roto-zip and was cutting a slot in the head to back the screw out. What I ended up with was 3 stitches in my thumb, luckily it was in the 'webbing' area and I only cut the outside skin. It was kind of cool, I could see down inside my hand. So now I won't be able to work on the damn thing for a few days. It's like I was never meant to run this LST!!

I have a roto-zip on steroids, it has a 4 amp motor and can handle router bits as well. I tried to find a pic of it but couldn't. I also tried to take a pic of the cut but my digital camera is on the fritz and my cell phone wouldn't get a clear pic............. I QUIT!!

It was my own fault for being stupid. You ever have that moment right before something bad happens when you say 'This may not be a good idea' or 'I'm going to get my myself hurt'............. I think both those phrases went through my head...LOL

**For Rolex and AJ**

Actually, I was doing just fine. Then out of the corner of my eye...... I saw them. Giant red shoes and a red fro sticking out from behind the tree. I knew them sum-bitches were watching me. Apparently my clown perimeter protection unit is not working properly. :\

don't give up on the dremmel! i love using mine with this hobby, especially for cutting and sanding new bodies. hope your hand heals up pretty fast. i've got you beat on the coolness factor though. in the past year i've held a 4 inch piece of my own tibia in my hand while on the way to the ER and saw the inside of my now amputated left foot for 3 months straight while it healed up. Bones, tendons and all. good times, good times.

Well at least you still got one good hand, get some one to hold your truck while you use your good hand to remove the screw, that is if you got the slot cut in the head of the screw before you cut the slot in your hand, and make sure you reinforce the clown perimeter before you attempt to work on the LST again. LOL!!!!!:D

That sucks, I got four stitches in the webbing of my right hand back in highschool. I feel your pain.

OOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW

That's gotta hurt. Sorry to hear that man. I haven't done anything really nastly let (knocks on wood) but I have had a few close calls. I'd have opened up my finger while I was trimming the hexes down for my new Mayhem beadlocks, had it not been for the fact the knife blade was blunt (at which point I threw it away and grabbed a new one!) :)

I had a similar incident happen with a hack saw about a week and a half ago.

The saw skipped right out of the part I was cutting and right onto my right index finger. I never thought it would cut my finger, much less so deep. Must've went a good 8th of an inch (at a 45 degree angle). It bled like there was no tomorrow. I promptly did the right thing; stuck it in my mouth, started sucking (mostly so I could get whatever stuff was in it out, but also to keep from having to clean up blood), and went right to the first aid cabinet.

After searching for about 10 minutes of looking for the right bandage, I settled on a roll of gauze (this cabinet has every bandaid known to man; it's sort of like Rolex's Savage cleaning and shelf repair supply cabinet), some tape, and a few choice swears. Oh, and some neosporin and hydrogen pyroxide. I cleaned the wound as best I could, wrapped it with some gauze, and then finished up what I was cutting.

Anyways, you can't let a little scratch like that keep you away from finishing your project. If you do, the clowns win.

Nope, them clowns ain't winning!! I just have to hold them at bay for a day or two. I'm going to get an ez-out, I have a couple of bigger ones but I need one that is more narrow to get this screw out.

I was amazed, there was almost no blood at all. I was lucky in a way, I had my thumb and index finger stretched apart so when the blade hit, it only cut the skin and didn't get anything below. It was cool to see down inside my hand.

It would have been much cooler if you were able to take a pic so WE can see down inside your hand.

Carnage pics are the best whether it's your RC or yourself.

Get that camera fixed for next time.

I highly recommend this screw extractor kit might have a bit small enough. I have used and love it although you will come across the occasional small one where the only option is the dremel.

I also recommend geting a dremel I have both a dremel and a ROTO-Zip the zip is just to big and powerful for most rc jobs making precision difficult hence your incident. I just bought a Hobby vise for holding these small parts. I almost got myself the same as you and decided a vice would be handy.

Thanks for the link Grudge. I have seen that ad on TV recently and was wondering if they were a decent set. I want to try and get this done for the weekend, I was really hoping to break in the new motor tomorrow. I might go to Lowe's and see if they have a small one and still get the kit you linked to.
You can never have too many tools.

superglue is a cuts best friend at least in my family too many times that has kept me and my brother from getting stitches

I've always used reverse drill bits to remove any stripped small screw my proline cheyenne bead locks came with the cheapest china screws on earth good for one use only had to extract nearly half from the whole set of four rims

:DWowzers! I feel your pain. After enough stupid events like this of my own I got certified to do the stitches myself, save a lot of time......... because I know what a pain in the ass i is to do the stitches so I think before I pick up the circular saw to trim a dowel!

Let me know how the 427 goes
