well I'm sure this is a dumb question but i'll ask anyways....how easily in general do rc boats flip over? I've watched some vids of them and they look fun but i am terrified of water and if it flipped over in the water i would have to wave bye bye to it cuz i wouldnt go out and get it.

I think a lot depends on how you drive it, but then again, I've never driven one either.

the only stupid question is the 1 not asked

yet i still have no idea how easily they flip.
I think it depends on the boat itself... how u drive it and weather conditions.

But hey if ur petrified of water then i wouldn't recommend getting 1... what if it stalls in the water or runs out of fuel :S
more factors to think off that just flipping it

well i wouldnt run a nitro anyways lol...maybe i can tie a really long string to it lol.

just need a longer string lol....guess that prolly wont work.

u could always tie it to a fishing rod and have the drag set EXTREMELY loose on the rod and then if anything happens u can just reel it in :P
and if the line gets noted then who cares just pull it in anyways and use cheap line hah

i rolled mine in the pool, luckily i was against the side and could pick it up. i drove it pretty hard and was cutting up a lot and it never flipped, the only reason it did that time was because i clipped the wall. the nose is stuffed with foam so it wont sink. a lot of guys that run boats normally have a "recovery" rig. just a cheep electric one they can send out after the big boy if something bad happens. I've also heard of people putting a small metal hook on the nose. and take a fishing pole just a sinker on it. cast over the boat, it will hook on the nose, and reel it in. wont work to well if you flip it though...

Flipping them is extremely rare unless you hit something. Radio range over water is far greater than on land, but that's no reason to push the limits. Run electric, not nitro, and you'll know when it's time to come back in. If it totally dies in the water because you ran too long, just ignore it for 5 minutes, and you'll recover enough juice to bring it in.
If you alter it to set a new speed record, that's when you'll flip it due to air lifting it like a wing. Stock, or close to it is a blast.

Does this look familiar? This is the same boat, only in white, and all the stock graphics have been removed and replaced by my own.

It's a simple radio system, out of the box. The center rudder is only a trim tab, and the steering is "Thrust Vector". That's not proportional steering, but when you turn right, the right motor will shut off, and the left one will push it to the right.
It all works fine, but I've got about $300+ worth of new hardware going into mine. A full E-Savage system with twin motors, water cooling and alloy rudders, brass props and variable pitch out drives, servo controlled.
I feel the need for speed, and I only purchased the boat for it's big, beautiful catamaran hull. :)

i have the blast, its smaller, electric, and has a steerable outdrive. its pretty fun although I've only drivin it in the neighbors pool

hmm, ok, i think i might start looking at it more, i really dont think i would use it much and feel the need to upgrade anything....i hope lol...

Just for a fun boat, it's stable and it's just fine. You know how I am. Nothing stays stock. Everything gets pushed to the extreme. You don't need to upgrade anything, it will be fine as it is.
What makes it especially cool is that it's HUGE for that price. Uh....yup, size matters.

like how big?
