Stripped Gears

Hello All, I'm new to this site. Thought it looked pretty useful. I have a question for anyone who can answer. I have a Team Associated MGT 4.6SE. I lost second gear in my tranny. I had it apart not long ago the spur gears seemed to be in great shape. When I took it apart today to see what was up with second all the teeth except a few were completely worn off. It seems to me that there should have been some sign of wear last time i had it apart. It seems they completely went all at once as if something jammed. Do they usually wear very quicky like this when they are ready to go? I couldnt find anything that jammed up so I'm at a loss. There was a bearing that went in the rear end around the same time also so maybe this had something to do with it? I dont want to put a new gear in and have the same thing happen again so I'm hoping someone might have something to offer on this or has run into a similar situation.

hey jake, got a 4.6 here with transmission problems. i'm waiting on my 8.0 transmission( all metal gears) to get here in the mail(ebay). hope it is the last one i need for a while.

mgt 8 vs 4.6

hey,
do you have any idea if the 8.0 parts will fit in the 4.6? all the gears are metal in mine except for the spur gear that i have stripped. i wonder if the metal one from the 8.0 will work? any ideas?
