iam thinking about building a stright pipe with a washer on the end for back pressure. how long should it be at .500 dia. i have O.S. 21tm in a highly modded jato.

It won't work well. The expansion chamber of the pipe should be tapered properly for the pulse to bounce back to the engine at the right time. You can try, but it's just going to be noisy, probably reduce power and also run hot.
Might be easiest to try it with copper... if your going to try. Then you can get a proper end cap, solder it on and drill a hole in it. 5-6 inches is about all you have room for.

I saw a thread bough this once...not sure how it ended up though. Just me but i would try it on a cheaper engine than the OS.21TM....just in case things did go bad it would suck to torch an expensive engine.

yea joey i didnt think of that. ill have to think about it. right now the heat outdoors is keeping me in side. us old guys dont like heat. it looks like wichita is going to brake temp records set in the 30s. we have hit over 100 at least 30 days in a row.

Man i know it has been over a 100 every day where my family is too. Never saw that...it would hit 100 a few times in a summer sometimes but NOT EVERY DAY. When ever I try something on an engine that I am not sure if is a good idea I use one of my sacrificial engines that I could care less about. So if i blow it up I just laugh and say that was fun.

yep try new stuff is fun. a long time ago i worked in an experimental shop, building prototype trenchers. one time my boss told me that if something doesn't work. then you have learned what doesn't work , gets you closer to what does work.
