Strange Wifi Issue

So we have two TV's. One in the bedroom and one in the living room. The one in the living room is Ethernet wired to the box but the TV in the bedroom is not.

The bedroom TV will randomly stop and say there is a network issue but at the same time the wired TV in the living room is fine.

Anyone have any ideas?
 
Distance and the number of walls between the wifi router and the TV can have a big influence on signal quality.

If that's an issue for you, there are wifi extenders which just act as a repeater to pickup and resend wifi to a distant area. Put one between TV and router and see if your issues go away. They are not expensive, nor difficult to setup.

So it act like a radio repeater for Ham radio, makes sense. I'll look into this and hopefully it solves the issue!

Sometimes the TV will stay on for hours with no issue and other times it'll go out once every 10 minutes 😡
 
What Wi-Fi you use?
I got 3 smart TVs in my house and they all work perfectly. The other 2 are dummy TVs, don't run by Ethernet but we run them off cable and we get streaming service apps, so. I run Xfinity and have so for years. 2 of those smart TVs being upstairs and the other being in the basement.

What @9x19 said could also help to fix possibly.
 
Yes you need a repeater (range extender), we have one in the guest bath so we can get wi-fi in the bedroom. When your tv is stopping it's usually due to too much signal loss or a buffering issue.

Well what if it is only a one bedroom apartment and the living room is right on the other side of the wall not even 7ft away. I just thought of this after someone had mentioned it

Oh yea. Shouldn't really need one. Unless your router is very weak. Just my opinion. It's just weird that the Wi-Fi has issues while wired Internet doesn't. Might be the actual TV? 🤷
 
It's really not weird for the hardwired TV to be fine but the wireless TV to have issues. Think of it like a land line vs cell phone.

It is unusual to have signal problems that close to the router though. If you are renting the router from your provider, I'd ask them to check the wifi signal strength, it is a separate channel from the ethernet connection.

We've had to have one replaced for bad signal strength.

That was my second guess, we ended up clearing it out with the cache or w.e and reverting the settings back to default, reconnecting the TV to the Wi-Fi and everything

Okay, I'll have to call them today and maybe the box is just old and needs to be updated? I'll give that a shot as well. I tried living with it, but I believe I'm at the end of the line with this
 
likely, the tv is frequency hopping between 2.4ghz and 5ghz and nuking its connection to your router. You can setup a guest wifi ssid within your router settings and restrict it to a single frequency, then clear all the wifi settings on the tv, connect it to the new ssid and it should stabilize.
