Tank cover

As distasteful as they are, these devices to help protect the MAXX's tank when grappling with other nitro trucks, or sliding into unmovable obstacles.

Nothing wrong with that hop up other than added weight. If it keeps your tank from getting fragged, then it is worth the money spent on it.

Yes it will, however I have found that t-maxx tanks are extremely brittle and none of the ones I have broken have broken as a result of the tank being brittle and not from something hitting it. If you're really worried about breaking another buy two of them or buy an alum tank and your worries are gone.

el pirata or skymaxx...would alum chassis braces help me out w/this at all and maybe a skid plate? just a thought to help min chassis flex..or would I just break something else?

i think that the aluminum chassis braces would hlep with it becuase then ur chassis wouldn't bend as much. i had putten aluminum chassis braces on and then i went and put and aluminum center skid plate on mine. my chassis doesn't have as much flex in it any more.

k sounds good... I am up and running again went and got the parts I needed...now I will just get the chassis mounts soon.

Aluminum chassis braces are an excellent idea, and an aluminum center skid. Taken together, the chassis plate, the braces and the center skid form a box beam and should strengthen the length of the truck and help to minimize chassis flex.

yeah i found that out with this XTM 24.7 that if i dont have the aluminum chassis braces and the aluminum center skid i will eat up the spur gear from chassis flex when it is taking off because of all the torque this motor has.

I'm finding more and more that I need some titamium screws because hardened steel is breaking, stainless is breaking and don't even mention mild steel. Alum chassis braces are a great idea however only use a middle skid out of alum. I have found my alum front and rear skids bent into combinations and angles few people ever dream of. After attempting to bend them back to normal one too many a time I decided to put plastic back and I have not had any problems whatsoever as a result.

yes, i am getting rid of this damn front skid plate (excuse my french). i hate it with a passion. my lhs doesn't have any in right now and this thing is all bent up. i aint even going to try and bend it back. i smell the garbage can for this one:hi:

so u guys are recomending the alum braces and center skid and say maybe rpm front and rear?

k was actually gonna buy the whole rpm kit front middle and rear today but my lhs doesn't carry the set just alum front/middle/rear
but now I know what to get and hopefully that works. thanks for all your help guys.

-Michael

yes like we said dont get the aluminum front or rear skids. they dont really work too good. unless ur truck is for show(i doubt it). get the rpm.

bryan

I'm curious...how are you all tearing up your alum skids so much?! I don't have them (I run rpm's), so I don't know, but I'd think that'd it be tough to mess up those skids. Are you all running full force into large rocks? or landing jumps onto rocks? How are they getting so bent up?

gil...were you talking to me or the other guys? If it was me I havent torn up any alum skids yet...I just have stock skids and I tear up everything else on my truck. sky, super and el pirata where just givin me tips on what ones to buy. I will be getting rpm front rear and then alum center though.
