just wondering if anybody knows why my storm loses reception whenever i land a big jump. There are 3 storms around here and they all do the same thing

Describe the area that you are running in. Any airports, high tension lines, transformers, stuff like that. If it were just your buggy I would think it had some kind of short in it and the landing made it more pronounce. But to have three of the same type buggy do it would likely rule out that it had something to do with the buggies. And it gets even stranger. If it were outside interference, why only on the landings ? Hmmmmm.....strange.
Here's a stretch. Ever heard of EMI? Electro Magnetic Interference.
Whenever metal touches metal you get it and when this happens a frequency of some unknown number is generated. The military spends tons of money on trying to overcome this 'natural' phenomenon. If you have a radio antenna that operates on a certain frequency and on a windy day the chain that secures the fence around it starts to beat itself against the metal fence, a frequency is created and causes interference with the radio antenna. Some cases it's minor, others can be severe. Sorry, got off track but here's mypoint. You have metal to metal contact that occurs on your buggy and maybe the hard landings is enough to cause some weird frequency interference with the rcvr. The shock springs rubbing against the shock body, the dogbones inside of the output cups, something like this. EMI is real. Is it a big problem with RC's ? I wouldn't think so, but something is causing your problem. Like I said earlier, if it was just one buggy I would look at the problem being with it. But to have the same problem happen to all three, and of the same type suggests something different. This is an interesting problem. Please provide as much feedback as you can, be detailed, leave nothing out.

we are running at the local outside track.Nothing around like wires or anything but a few trees and dirt. We are about a mile and a half from town. Once we catch the damn things slam it on the ground and guess What happens then We get reception back until we hit the next jump.
Would it be that we all need a sealed battery pack.
all other buggies around our town are still able to use the stock battery case with no trouble

I've had your problem. I'm guessing it's a RTR? Storm's are very known to do this. It's the reciever. There are so called "Bad" ones. Theyare good and all but are very sensitive to vibration(yeah dumb huh?) Okay first off...Clean out the battery box. Find some little foam pads and glue them to the walls, floor and bottom of the lid. Make sure its not too thick or it will be hard to cram in there. Next go threw all your connections and make sure they are secure. Next make sure your antenna isnt hurt so how, opent he reciever if needed. Also another thign...I kept knock my batteries out of my holder. Your batteries could be geeting knocked out and back in causeing loss of reception. Tape them in with black electrical tape. Hope this helps. PM me if you need any help.

MM - You may have no got this prob because you have a Storm Pro(I think you do anyway) and maybe you have diffrent electronics. Anyway congrats on that ride anyway.

I did have a problem initially with the battery pack where they would come loose on hard landings (can't believe I missed that one !!) Your right with the tape fix and zip ties also work. Better yet upgrade to a hump pack and be done with it.

So if it is the batteries i will buy a pack. My lhs wants me to buy a 4.8 volt 1600 ma. Will this work or do i need to have a 6 volt pack.
Also what would be a good replacement reciever instead of a new JR

It would be better to get a 6 volt pack but you don't HAVE to have one. With 6 volts you will get more power out of you servos.

Dont worry about replacing the reciever. Get a hump pack and tape those batteries and your fine. I run with Dollar General Brandbatteries and just tape them in and have few problems

What do I need to tape the batteries if I get a hump pack
and only a few problems
Thats a few to many
