so today I was driving my car pretty much all day and kept running into problems. First I was driving and I noticed it was kind of hard to turn come to find out my batteries were getting low. Then after coming home and switching out batteries I went back to drive. Then after a tank of gas and a quick smoke break I went to start it up again I noticed my glow plug igniter was dead so back home again.. Got it charged ate dinner then went back to drive one last time. About two tanks later someone there said how's the range on that thing? Right after he said that the batteries I thought were good died, my car took off going about 40 right into a storm drain while I could do nothing but watch. We walked over about 50 yards and it was still running, at that point my girlfriend started freaking out because she bought it for me. I'm glad I had antenna because that was the only thing I could reach. Finally got it out and a few scratches were the only thing wrong with it. Think I'm done driving for today...

lmfao bummer dude good batteries r a must

What a bad day. Lol. That makes my worst day look like nothing. But I'm glad to hear nothing was broken.

failsafe and throttle return spring, would have saved you a lot of grief. glad you got it out though!! the neighbor kid ran his in the drain awhile back. they had to pull the cover off.

That will be my next purchase. Do you recomend a good failsafe??

i ran an ofna one, and a dynamite one, both did me well. i may have one or two left over from my nitro days. i really need to do some spring cleaning!

Na, don't worry about it. I'll sell ya my old alkalines when I'm done with them, too. Just kiddin' ya and I'm glad your ride's alright. But you should know the answer to this question after the day you had.

I run the OFNA Micro Failsafe and it has never given me any problems. Works every time.

I lol'ed pretty hard when I read this. I broke my Slayer in on a city street, and there were a few storm drains, among other obstacles for my Slayer which scared me. It wouldnt have been a runaway that I was so worried about, but rather the fact that once it got going fast, it was either turn and roll in the original direction (i.e. not missing what I was turning to avoid) or pray the brakes had cooled down enough to stop me in time. So yeah, I can imagine how it felt to see your R/C disspaear into that storm drain lol.

Sounds like you need a rechargeable battery pack !;)
You also need a Glo-Bee glow charger that you can hook up to your car battery, that's the on I have....it works great !:D

It's an hpi rs4 3 evo+. Yea I was looking at a venom failsafe that also read the temp of the engine. Would that work or should I buy a failsafe and a seperet temp gun? And seriesly that was the only storm drain in the entire huge parking lot LOL.

I would use a temp gun. Much more accurate. I had some thing similar happen but it was a storm drain with a slotted cover....or a big grate actually. Well I had Duracrash Evader 1/10 scale buggy and the front tire dropped down in the grate. I went to swerve to miss it but I was that mili-second too slow and it whipped the whole car around in a circle.....with the tire still in the grate. It tore the whole right/front suspension off. Tire, A-arm and shock all gone.....down the drain. (Figuratively and literally) It had just rained so there was a good bit of water flow too so it was gone!

LOL that was worse than mine just for the fact it broke so much stuff.

All good man I thought it was funny too at the time...I saw the tire and rest of it rolling away...under a 200lb storm grate. Had it all went down the drain like yours I would have been pissed. It ended up costing me $20 on E-bay so I guess it was not too bad....almost worth the laugh.
Anyway a temp gun is the best for actually checking temp however, the Venom has a temp failsafe built in so that is good for a basher's back up as a preventive overtemp measure.

yea it was an awesome birthday present... Now she wants me to buy her one now LOL
