storing question

I'm just wondering on how to store my nitro rc truck at BDC.My hobby dealer said to store my truck at bottem dead center.I'm thinking to make the piston stored at the bottom of the sleeve by turning the flywheel till i see the piston at the bottom.Is this right?

Bottom Dead Center (BDC)
When a piston travels the length of its stroke, in normal operation, it is said to have reached bottom dead center when it is at the lowest position in the cylinder, closest to the crankshaft.

You can also make a mark on the flywheel so you don't have to pull the glow plug every time.

lol thanks =) so i turned my flywheel till the piston is at the bottom =p

To me it doesn't matter where the piston is in the cylinder...I only worry about getting all the old castor oil and methanol from out of the bearings/transfer ports/carb/upper sleeve and crank so it doesn't oxidize and gum-up the piston/rod/crank/bearings or draw-in moisture causing rust/oxidation that could creep in through the muffler pipe/airfilter foam....CRC and Stabile engine fogging oils do just that and really work well to ensure proper storage maintainance/protection.......4 drops of afterrun oil doesn't cut it and neither does WD-40 either in my opinion..

I always put mine at BDC immediately after shutting the engine off so it doesn't cool with the piston up in the sleeve.

The theory is, as it cools, the sleeve contracts and squeezes the piston if it's up there, so either it's deforming the piston or sleeve.

Not sure how true that is... but I err on the side of caution.
So far, the least amount of fuel I've gotten out of an engine prior to needing re-pinched is 12 gallons. Not sure if it's because of the BDC thing or just general maintenance, break-in and tuning practices.
