i fixed the easy start and I'm still not able to get this thing running. it spins and stops then spins but will not fire. i believe its primed but i dunno anymore. anyone have any pointers. i also think that the blue wire is screwed up and the new one should be here today. i cleared the fuel out of the motor because it flooded once. help!!

it sucks i thought for sure it was good to go, I'm wondering what the best way to test a glow plug is. anyone have advice on that?

It starts and stops spinning without you letting off the button? Do you still here a whirring sound when the engine stops?

Pull the plug and hook it up to an igniter and see if it glows bright.

ok well i put a new plug in and the blue wire is the next step, i pulled the plug and connected it and it didn't glow. same with the new plug.

Try holding the side of the plug against the engine to ground it.

ill give that a try after work, thanks for the info!

i've heard lots of people complain about the blue wire on the ez-start...if it were me i would disconect the blue wire and use a plug igniter

I'm thinking about a pull start now..

You can still use an ez-start with a separate glow heater. It actually makes for easier starts if you do. Then the glow plug isn't draining the starter battery. Also, using a heater allows you to get the plug good and hot before cranking it over.

The EZ starts are know for a circuit board failure to the glow plug. It's not the wire. To test a glow plug with an EZ start requires you to connect the blue wire and hold the base of the glow plug against the head to complete the +/- circuit.
If the starter is 'skipping' or slipping you'll need to remove the one way bearing and clean it out real good with denatured alcohol. Excess oil from the break in is causing it to slip. You also need to clean off the shaft the same way.

yeah i use only a glow ignitor on my 3.3 and it does wonders. turn it over for 5 sec. to prime it. put ignitor and turn over and it usually starts right up

yep it was the one way bearing i cleaned it and the shaft with denatured alcohol and replaced the blue wire and it fired up in 2 seconds. i just gotta get it tuned right. its kinda a pain for this newb.

bad circuit board

i had the same problem "twice" so i set it up with a pull start, i works ok except for the cuts i got beetween my fingers (sucks) . i think i'll set up the ez start again and use an igniter. there i go flapping my gums again when all i wanted to ask was this = is denatured alcohol the same as isopropyl alcohol ? can you purchase denatured alc. in places other than lhs since the closest one is 3 hours away ?

i keep a glow igniter around just in case for that reason that blue wire for some reason does not work right half the time i flooded my truck several times befoe i figured it out

When you're using the blue wire to light up the plug, you are also cutting down on the time your starter battery can be used. The more it's started, the weaker it gets and the less glow you get to the plug. Use a good igniter and save your EZ start for spinning the engine only.

Isopropil alcohol, or rubbing alcohol is usually 70% or up to 85%. The rest is distilled water. It will work for cleaning the bearing. Just make sure you blow dry it well. Denatured alcohol is pure, no added water.
