Ok so I just got my revo used and it only has one steering servo, it steers fine, but is it hard on the servo couse of the spring in the steering? Also I found a servo layn around and hooked it up and had it just hangin loose and wen is steer they didn't turn the same their was a delay in the one hanging, Ny ideas on why the delay? Is it just couse theirs no drag or force on it?
 
I'm guessing you have 2 entirely different servos. Different speeds, different torque. They will fight each other till they burn out.
The single servo steering conversion uses a stronger servo and eliminates the need for the weight of the 2nd servo.
Don't expect great steering with the tires on the ground and the car sitting still.
 
Their both traxxas 2055s, is their a way to see if its a upgraded servo on their for 1 servo steering?
 
Not likely, if it's the 2055.
I'm pretty sure that's the stock Traxxas steering servo. Only 80 in. oz of torque.
The extra one you got might have a problem and that's why it was taken out.
If you want to go with the single servo steering, get a Hitec HS 645MG.
 
Sweet thanks man Ima defiantly look into that, and it theory a way to find out the model # of the truck,since its used I didn't get the book or nothing, just a big ass box of parts
 
Ok so I put a new servo in, same one as the other side, hooked it up threw the spliter and and hooked up all the linkage and it does the same thing, turns good one way, but shake wen it goes back to the nutrl spot and its realy shaky turning the other way and on its way back to the neutral spot, I have a video but don't know how to post up... any help on how to post videos be helpful, and on the steering lol, and I do this all from my evo so hope I can post vids
 
I would seriously just stick with one, even if it only has 80 oz/in for the time being. Getting two of the same servos is only half the equation. You still have to adjust the linkage to keep the two from fighting. I bought a brand new 2075 trx servo on ebay for 10 bucks recently, it has 125 oz/in which will steer pretty good on a revo. Make sure you do not have the pillow ball end caps too tight either.
 
I've had a couple 2055's do exactly what your explaining. Turn fine to the right, but cog to the left. I'd get the servo that Rolex mentioned, or something equivalent or better. I've heard good things about Tower Hobbies Hobbico line. Look for something with 150oz+. No less than 130oz if your on a tight budget.
 
Ok thanks guys I will try my lhs around here and see what the got, it seemed to turn fine with one I just liked the idea of two, lol, but deff lookin into a higher torque for sure
 
on one of my revo's i use towerpro mg995 for single steering and also throttle/brake, heres the specs

■Size: 40.7mm X 19.7mm X 42.9mm

and on my other revo i use traxxas 2070 for single steering and also on throttle/brake

Torque: 6.0V:125.0 oz-in (9.00 kg-cm)
Speed: 6.0V:0.17 sec/60°
Weight: 1.59 oz (45.0 g)
Dimensions: Length:2.17 in (55.1 mm)
Width:0.79 in (20.1 mm)
Height:1.50 in (38.1 mm

hope this helps you some both can be had for under $40ea
 
What are the advantages/disadvantages to having a single steering servo, other than weight?

One more question about my revo. Is there a way to put four wheel steering on my revo (front and rear)?
 
The single servo is better for less battery drain, and if one dies the other one doesn't have to fight it until you notice that one died.

Without looking at mine, I think it would be making some significant alterations to the chassis.. may hurt the handling as well. Not really sure where you would slide in a steering servo back there either
 
The servo location and linkage are the big problems. I could see it being easier on a maxx, but even that would be tough.
 
This has been done in the past on t-Maxxs by putting another front end in the rear.
Not really worth it because it will get very squirrely at speed.
 
Now with the one servo steering is it better to use the shower or longer linkage? Or does it not matter?
