hey guys, when my xl on the stand.the steering worx great but when u put it on the floor i have no steering.u can hear the servo working fine.i took the bumper and plate off with the truck upside down.the servo is working but i can't see wot the problem is.any ideas?

Those are pretty big wheels, they probably can't turn much when the truck is on the ground and not moving, does it turn fine when you are running it?

With it upside down and the plate off, hold the wheels stationary by hand and turn the wheel on your remote. See what moves and what doesn't. Could just be your servo saver needs tightened up a bit.

stock servo is a bit weak. Some people are swapping the stock servo for a stronger one. A stronger servo will give you better control over the truck. Instead of the wheels going from lock-to-lock, as it does with the stock servo, you need one that can turn and hold the wheels steady throughout its motion when cornering. You can use the old steering servo in place of the weak throttle servo and get a better response out of the brakes as well.

batts are fine, when truck runnin the steering is not so good.how do i tighten up the saver?i do have a spare hitec servo but the servo seems to be workin fine.

according to the HPI website the stock HPI SF-5 servo used for the steering puts out 8.9kg-cm or roughly 124 oz-in of torque at 6v.

The HITHS5645S at 4v puts out more torque than the stock hpi servo and would be a good step up

Torque @ 4.8V:168 oz-in
Torque @ 6.0V: 168 oz-in
Speed @ 6.0V:0.23 sec/60°Speed
Speed @ 4.8V:0.18 sec/60°Speed

the only time my XL can turn the wheels when not moving is after a fresh charge on the receiver batt.

I like the Hitec 986MG for the money. The 5645 isn't sealed up as well. The 985 has 172oz at 6V and is a bit faster. Although, a bit more costly. However, I've been running a couple in my rigs for throttle/brake for 2 years, summer, winter, snow, mud and haven't had a single issue with either. Best $70 I've spent in the hobby so far.

yeah,I've checked it all! guess ill just strip it down and try and work it out...
