I just setup my starter box to kick over my Lightning Stadium truggy which has a Wasp .26 with pullstart and when I bump it over on the starter box it sucks and twists my pullstart cord.
Is this normal as I do not want to rip and destroy the pullstarter?
I want to be able to keep a pullstart or a rotostart backplate on the engine just incase the starter box fails on me or incase I don't want to haul my starter box around.

did you check what way your box wheel was turning? you may have the motor running backwards if that is possable. i do no that i shouldn't be sucking your cord in.. or check to see if you one way bearing is in the right way..or wait do you have you ride sitting on the box the right way??? sorry had to ask

all good questions since I am new to a starter box?
The Wasp .26 does not have a one way bearing for the pullstart, I believe it's all internal part of backplate.
Anyways, I checked out the direction of everything that spins and all seems ok as in photos of how I have it set up other than the pullstart being sucked in and twisted.

flip it the other way the back of your ride should be at the front of the starter box..

mine usually pulls my starter chords in a little bit when using a box. this is normal. it looks like everything is set up right. if you are able to turn the motor over a few revolutions with the box its set up fine. if it were wired backwards it would pull the chord all the way in and stall out the flywheel and maybe the box. you will ruin the silicon tube that holds your pullstart handle away from your header, its a given, and a sacrifice you will make for using a starterbox with it. everyone of my pullstarts that I've used on a starterbox has ended up this way. they all still work fine but the tubing gets ruined.

zandor check your wheel rotation direction in relationship to your cars orientation on the box. i just checked mine and he is fine. it looks like his starter motor is mounted backwards for clearance reasons in the box. i have the same box for my onroads and i dont belive there is a cutout in the cover to mount it on the other side. so he must use it that way.

your right i just looked at the pics and his motor is in backwards??? wonder why..mabe so some one could use it to start a 1/10 on road???just a guess

well if CorradoPsi says that it's a given that the starter cord tube will get ruined that I believe I have it all set up correctly. It starts the engine fine and doesn't stall out the flywheel. I just got worried in concern of the tube on the starter cord twisting and sucking in.
I had to mount the starter motor in that direction as instructions said to do so and there was no other way to flip it around without it hitting the spring mechanism and adding new holes to mount it.
