I just received an XTM Racing starter box yesterday from a friend and it fits 1/8 scale off-road. Here's the problem, I line up the flywheel of the buggy to the starter wheel and when I press down, the flywheel doesn't even touch the starter box wheel.:( To make the flywheel touch I have to press on the cooling head. Even then there still isn't enough contact for the starter wheel to turn the flywheel. Is there a way to adjust the starter wheel or is there a bigger wheel I can buy. Or do I have to change my engine mounts or flywheel on my buggy?

I haven't used that box.
Most boxes have an adjustment that allows the top plate to be raised or lowered as well as a contact adjust to spin the wheel.

look a good look at the setup and see if you can find it. If not, post a few picks of the box.

I've adjusted the screw that contacts the switch to spin the wheel. Right now it's to where I have to fully compress the top plate for it to contact the switch. I'm not sure if there is an adjustment for the top plate, I'll double check for that.

There has to be a top plate adjustment.
If not put a few washers under the starter box motor to raise it up high enough.

I don't have a digi cam so I can't post pics. Here's a link where you see what the starter box I have looks like Starter Box Pic

The buggy you are trying to start - which one is it? is the engine in the buggy a pull start mill? if so, the flywheel may be to high up in the car to reach the doughnut, and u will need to either purchase lower no p/s engine mounts, or get a bigger fywheel. Just an idea.

I have a Starter box very similar to that one and I had to take the posts off to get the wheel to hit my flywheel. It is my first starter box so I dont know if that was the correct way but it worked!

I was just going to suggest that....if you dont "need" the posts...get rid of em.
