Ok. I keep having problems with my dam spur gear. When i first got my truck, as i was breaking the engine in it stripped on me. Then i fixed it was gonna good for a while bashing racing etc. Then once again it strips. Luckily a spur gear is only $5 buxs and is easy to replace, but i don’t want to keep doing this once a week. Has anyone encountered this problem before? I install it properly and make sure the engine is put on really tight. Should i get an aluminum spur gear? Not sure what to do or what I'm doing wrong...

There are 2 important things for gear life. #1----Good mesh. You want a solid mesh with just a touch of play. I use a single thickness of writing paper. Put it between the gears and then push the engine so that the teeth mesh firmly. Remove the paper and your mesh should be spot on. #2----Slipper setting. You do want a bit of slipper play so that any sudden resistance in the drivetrain (like landing a big jump) will not be taken out on the gear. Tighten the slipper nut and then back it off at least 1/8 turn. That should help.
Do you loctite your engine mount screws? That will insure that your engine isn't sliding at all. That's another thing to make sure of.

I have 14 gallons on my spur in my savage...

If you have good gear mesh and your slipper is loose enough to slip a little bit, it's either your driving style or something is allowing your gear mesh to shift while driving.

When jumping the truck, you have to let off the gas before it lands. I've seen people kill spurs trying to do flips... I did a couple flips and I don't see the appeal, but whatever. With flips, your typically hitting the ground while the drivetrain is still spinning at a high rate of speed. This kills spurs... transmissions, diffs, axles...

If you don't drive like that, and again, you know your mesh is good, pull the engine and engine mount out of the truck. Inspect the mount, mounting plate, mounting plate cross bars for cracks. If there are any cracks anywhere, it will let your engine tilt when your on the gas or bashing the truck around.

Also, check your CB bearings. If they are shot, it will allow the CB to shift and chew up the spur.

just need to add something to this ,
depending on your setup make sure your not tring to mesh a 47t spur to a 15t bell it will seem like there is a good mesh there but there isnt ,the chassis mount will not allow you to move close enough to get it set porperly and will blow the spur rather quickly
here is the setup i found works with stock spurs and bells
15t/52t super low end
15t/49t good low end
18t/47 and 49t
18t/52t is not possible either because there isnt enough room to move the bell far enough away it will bind up
