Spring Cleaning...

So what are good methods and materials to do some spring cleaning on a Nitro RC or any RC for that matter?

I got new diff lube, shock oil, bearings and spare parts. But before I do any of that I want to tear down the truck and give it a good cleaning. After a summer of racing on clay seems that dirt has impregnated every nook and crany. I did do regular maint and cleaned the truck after every race but now I'd like to take the time to get everything nice as new. I usually use Simple Green to clean and water to rinse then I dry it all off.

Any suggestions?

For my strip-n-clean I usually do it in a couple stages. For the major cleaning, I'll either use soap and water (on plastic parts), or either Simple Green or denatured alcohol on grimy metal parts and the engine. Use a toothbrush to get all the junk out of all the little places. When I'm done, I usually use a light coat of WD-40 on the plastic. Gives it a nice shine. Always relube the bearings. Double check all the moving parts to make sure there's no binding. Check the diffs for leakage. Double check your linkages. Pretty much like you're building it from kit form. Then it should be ready to rock!

I use Trinity motor oil or, and SpitFire will love this, Marvel Mystery Oil!
