Hey guys just got through the second of 14 days I am in dallas for microwave training and ethernet radio training. Its a great opportunity but am already missing the wife and kids.

I'm not sure if they're open yet ( should be. Closed for remodel after bad storm), but you have to go buy Indy RC. It's where I cut my teeth in rc. You'll really enjoy it. At least go by for me, I now live some eight hours away. Let me live thru you!!!

Seriously? Microwave training? I thought everything you ever had to know about them was in that little booklet inside. It's usually in the plastic bag that also contains the carousel tray and a couple of lousy recipes.

Our new radio system not only has a fibre backbone but also has a microwave ring for redundancy. So they sent me to dallas for 2 weeks to get some hands on training. Its at alcatel lucent

No one knows what your talking about Tom. Are you actually at home but eating shrooms?

What is it that you do?

I have played with the microwave a few times....DON'T put metal in it!

Years back I messed with communication for drilling rigs on land but I had a problem climbing those towers....Me no likey heights! I would guess Tom works for a communication provider of some sorts.

Put a cd in it shiny side up, when the wifes not home of course.

I climb those towers (Derricks) in the oilfield as it is part of my job, sucks in the winter time when you gotta be up there all day or night.

Yeah microwave technology to me is heating up a Tv dinner.

I used to hate being in the tower, especially on a service rig, strange thing is I love working at heights, but I can't stand working over water....or on water for that matter.

P.S I once put a candy bar in the microwave......it make a pretty light show then the microwave stops working......forever!

One time when I was a kid I put wine gums that got hard in the microwave to see if it could soften them. It did but the outside was kind of cool and the inside was like molten lava jelly, burnt the crap out of my lip.

He has a grow operation in his basement for shrooms.

That's how I erase older back up files. Fun to watch.

I am a network tech that is now being asked to learn how to troubleshoot and maintain our counties new radio system. The microwave dish is how we send the radio signal from tower to tower. It is used as a failsafe should something were to take out the fibre hardline.

Nine days down........and 4 more to go. I have not seen my wife and kids since thanksgiving! I just can't wait to get home. Living out of a suitcase gets old quick.

That's tough, but it sounds like a great job and great opportunity! Good luck.

Am back at my desk again after 14 days in Texas.... I will really miss Texas... For once in my life I was surrounded by Republicans!!! I do wish I could have seen more of the DFW area. It sucks we had to be there during the 1 in every 10 year ice storm that shut the entire city down.
