Counterfeiters attack every realm. When I was building my Italian road bike, I was forewarned of counterfeit Italian bicycle components such as Cinelli handlebars and seat posts.

The original manufacturers home web page will always give heads up of counterfeits in markets.

If a guy in Japan on an ebay page lists "hundreds available"... they're fake.
