are speed bearings worth the added money. i ordered a set of regular factory replacements and a set of "speed bearings" just curious if it will roll smoother.

they look completely different. for the slash it shows rubber sealed. my rustler shows them dual sealed. i can't see where the factory ones show any description

My experience is this:
The bearings that have a metal shield are good for places that will not have dirt or fine dust and hopefully not water invade. They supposedly have less drag than the rubber sealed ones.
I typically go with a good rubber sealed bearing for everything unless its inside a transmission case or axle housing. I run in alot of fine dirt/dust and stay out of water if I can help it.
Perhaps the speed bearings have a ceramic ball instead of steel?
I always order bearings from AvidRC because they are good bearings and are affordable. They have kits for numerous cars and just about any size.

'Speed Bearings' are generally shielded, not sealed. Shielded bearings offer less rotating drag than sealed. Shielded are more prone to introduction of dust and dirt. They require more frequent cleaning to remain efficient.

Selecting a bearing shielded or sealed depends on what the application is. Clay track or drag racing, shielded 'speed bearing' works well. Dirt track or daily basher, a sealed bearing offers a better option.

Hope this helps. -AC

I run ceramic bearings in my oval race rigs. They make a huge difference in lowering rolling resistance. But they are not as durable as steel or hybrid bearings. A good sealed hybrid is probably the best compromise for durability and low resistance. Nice upgrade but not necessary.
