Hey everyone. I was wondering how much space should be between the clutchbell and the gear. I know it needs to be close enough to spin the gear, but I think mine is a little too close. Should it be so close that you need to apply little force to move it or should it spin with no need for force at all?

Piece of paper between the gears when you set them up. Just hold them together. Finish tightening the engine up, just roll the paper out.

You want them to spin freely but have as little play as possible. If it does not spin freely it will strip the spur and/or the CB, also it kills CB bearings fast. Too looseand it will strip out the gears as well. The paper trick works well, also the plastic bags that parts come in.

After using the paper or plastic, be sure that the gears spin freely all the way around.

If you feel any sort of resistance, that is the place you sill need to use the paper or plastic to reset your spacing.
