So I got my picco 21 mostly broken in, it runs good, but had no real low end punch. I figured with big joes on there it would be a bit doggy. I wrote a thread about it in engines and motors. Anyway after lots of gear, pipe, plug and fuel changes I figured it out. I switched out my mip spline cvd's back to stock and bang, there's my answer. I knew they were heavy, but after some use they had rusted a little and created alot of extra drag. I originally wanted something besides the splines, but with the extended chassis I had few options. The moral of the story; put some thought into your aftermarket parts before you spend the coin. They're not always what you hope they're going to be.

Oh yeah, it's a 4908 maxx.;)

glad you got it figured out ;) ,,i was thinking of upgrading my shafts on my revo ...but i think i will stick with the stock ones ;) ...and stock parts are easy to get at low prices ..so it doesn't hurt as much when they brake

I have mip center cvd's on my revo and trx on all 4 corners, they're great, but the spline cvd's are as big as stock and made out of thick, heavy steel. It's just way too much for an overweight maxx with big joes on it. I know what you mean though, I never broke a stocker on my revo when it had a 3.3. Maxx center shafts will break a little easier because of the high angle they run at, but oh well, they're cheap.:D

Are they something new? I didn't realize MIP ever made a splined one to mimick stock. Always thought they just had their standard CV's.

I think they're new. I wouldn't suggest getting them, very heavy. Also when they were new I broke a pin and almost lost half of one in my yard. I searched for half an hour to find it. I didn't think they'd slow me down too much, but they did, especially when the grease dries up.

I'm putting my picco 21 away for a while, after leak testing I found that the front bearing was leaking badly. I'm just a bit suprised at that because there was no fuel coming out when it ran. I'm very disappointed with that engine, hopefully the 26 will be nice to me. I've pretty much wasted 3/4 of a gallon on the 21 so far.

Now that I think of it, I'm disappointed in my maxx too. NOTHING runs good in that thing. :(

good to know was thinking of getting them, Integy also has spline cv coming out soon for tmaxx 4908.

I'm just going to look for dogbones, and yes Olds, I'm compiling an ebay sale as we type. Time to move some stuff.
