Something slipping???

I have an older version HPI rush with the .15 FE engine. When I hit the throttle, it either does not move or it moves really slow. I keep thinking is is slipping between the spur gear and the metal that it goes up against. I have looked at the clutch shoes and don't really see any problem. If I leave one rear tire on the ground, I can spin the other either direction. Is that normal?? What can I do to make the spur gear not slip so much other than tighten it all the way down, which I have already done??Thanks for the help!

I would take the engine out and look at the spur gear and clutch bell if there is any wear to the spur gear I would say the engine is sitting to close to the spur gear. If the clutch bell is worn the engine is sitting to far away from the spur gear. If they both look good then I would say the clutch shoes are worn even if they don't look like it. Had this problem with my t-maxx and it was the clutch shoes even though they looked fine.

You may have rounded out a wheel hex or two as well.

Leave to body off, hold the truck down so it won't move, apply throttle and see what spins and what doesn't. That should help narrow it down.

Yeah, more info is needed. Is the spur gear spinning when you give it throttle? If so, you probably have a rounded out wheel hex, or worse. If your spur is spinning, check and see if your axles are spinning. If so, then it's a hex. If not, you have other problems.
