How do you guys remove the sleeve??? Today was my first complete engine breakdown. I heated motor up w/ a hairdryer and that didn't help. Tryed everything. Finally got a clothes pin and had to beat the clothes pin w/ pliers to get that sucker out.

When I had the sleeve out, the outside was scratched up. I have never had this motor tore apart so are the scratches normal?

What I do it take a pair of channel locks and pull it out. While I pull, I'll shimmy it a bit back and forth and it comes right out. I'm assuming the scratches are on the top half of the sleeve. You probably scratched it when you pulled it out...no biggie, don't worry about it. For the most part, as long as you don't scratch the inside of the sleeve you'll be ok.

man, i dont see how u are having that many problems getting it out. i just have to barely tug on mine with pliers.

I will completely disagree with GBQiuck on this subject.

DO NOT REMOVE YOUR SLEEVE WITH A CHANNEL LOCK.

These engines run on tolerances that are less than 1/30th the size of a human hair. Grabbing and squeezing the top of the sleeve will bend it out of shape.

When I have issues removing the sleeve I drag out my easy bake oven. The toaster oven or house oven will do. Heat that puppy up to 275-300 and let it bake for 15 minutes. Use oven mitts and be careful not to burn yourself. with a little pressure from a cloths pin it should slide out.

Sometimes you will need to re-heat just the case to get it back in.

Scratches on the outside of the piston wall are normal.

Or just use a heat gun, or a torch, just dont burn the metal, keep it far away but close to heat it.

Heat torch, or gun is a good alternative to an oven.
I choose an oven for the fact that it heats the case evenly and at a slower rate. A gun or torch will heat the case but not evenly. This can cause warping. Chances are you will be fine but if you can use an oven why take a chance?

Do it once and do it right.

I didn't say I squeezed anything. I just gently hold it. The way the channel locks grip is, they grip things flat like the opening of the letter C, not like plyers which are more like the letter V. But, I should have clarified not to grab and squeeze.
