hey i wana be able 2 run my maxx in the snow but dont wana hurt no electronics what should i do to get it reddy?:hi:

Water proof ur electronics and do a search and look for the thread about snow tires with the tire chains.

As Team17 mentioned, waterproof the electronics. You also might want to get the extreme duty motor saver air filter, I found when I ran in the snow mine ran better with that filter, it has a plastic cover that sits around the filter and will help keep it dry while running. Take a look at my Gallery, I have a few pics of my T in the snow from last year. The plastic parts will become more brittle so if you crash expect more damage than usual, but other than that I love running mine in the snow.

thx 4 the help i will get my maxx runin & water proof in no time we alredy got snow this morning:breakdown

yeah snow:snowman: i wana go run but my tuuck dont run right now and i am not water proof:nope:

blah blah blah this is boring and awkward!:doc: :stupid:

yeah i ran it yesterday i used the baloon way also i found another way from the guy at my LHS use DIELECTRIC GRESE
its the stuf that ppl us in the light conector on boat trailers
it is water proof and electric safe
he said he would open his servo and fill it with the stuf and close it up he said this way u dont need 2 use a baloon i did this with a bloon and put the grese inside that it worked grate . runnin in the snow was fun i didnt go in the deep stuf yet (today after school =) ) but i had plenty of fun in the stuf in the street i only ran it 4 like two min. though because it took me all day to get my truck ready (2 trips 2 the Lhs) but it was worth it even though i spent all my snow shjoveling money =(

I've read in other places that you want to watch the cooling of the engine on shut down. When it's colder out the engine temp drop fast when the engine is off. This puts allot of strain on the internal parts of the engine and may cause warping.

Just keep it in mind. Considering you work for you money, I'd hate to hear about you toasting the engine due to an oversite.

"SERVOS
Some servos are sold watertight from the factory; if there's a glob of sealant on the wire-harness/servo-case junction and teeny O-rings on the servo-case screws, it's sealed" an excert from one of the links, does the traxxas seros that come on the t-maxx have this feature? Mine seems to run fine 4-6in of WATER (not snow) and continues to perform like new. I'm going to assume that they are water proof from factory or, the plastic is just seated really well, or the electronics can just cope with the moister?:ha:

hey even if the servos r h20 proof then the baloon is just an incurance polociy! better safe then sorry (adn broke!):sorry:

Not me, the 1st time I took my max in the water the steering and throttle servo started acting all funny. The throttle servoe woudl twitch liek crazy. The steering servo would turn all the way one way and not turn back.

So IMO I would have to disagree on the servos being waterproof from the factory.

yeah o well but my maxx worked great in the snow except my truk didnt have the power i would, like stupid pro. .15!

any way I'm getin a sirio soon i hope:breakdown

I was watchin tv and i saw a tmaxx with
skis on the front and paddle tires on the back and it worked awsome in the snow

I just seen on the R.C. Today show that airs on the Out door Network that you can convert the front of your t-maxx with skies.
All you have to do is disconnect the front drive shaft and then install the ski kit. They also did something in the rear drive train and changed it into a posi-trac so that it won't keep spinning out.
If anyone knows how or where to get these items I would like to do this with my maxx.

Here's a link to a site that i found that has the ski kit:
http://www.rcworld2000.com/randlhobbies.htm

The guy also has a short clip on the site so you can see them in action.

By the way, i went to northern Minnesota for the past week to visit family. They have snow on the ground unlike here.

The stock tmaxx tires suck ass in snow. I had 2 stock tires on the rear and 2 imex swamp dawgs on the front. After spending a half hour having the damn thing spin in donuts, i switched the tires front and back. Well, the imex dug in pretty good, but then i couldn't steer to save my life.

The reason for the mismatched tires is due to the fact that i ripped one of my imex tires on a big air jump and all i had on hand were the stock tires. Since 2 of the imex were good, i ran the two.

It seems the stock tires rubber compound is way to hard for cold weather running. It was ok on grassy areas, but as soon as i hit fluff snow or packed snow, no more steering.

Thank you for the link. I followed it and watched the video. That looks to much like fun. I have to fix my truck first. It goes out about 60ft from me and then just does circles and runs at high throttle. I already know that the antenna is broke off at the receiver so I have open the receiver and resoldier that. Once I get this done then I will be looking closer at getting the skies and 2 more tires with rims so that I can have fun with it here in upper new york state.

Balloons work best... Just look for rips in it or holes.. if so throw some grease on there and it will work fine. I also agree with the air filter idea..
