So there is still a good bit of snow out here and i was wondering if it would be safe to run my savage 25 in it without hurting the electrical?

Not without doing some waterproofing. Ballooning the receiver pack, receiver and doing something with the servos, especially the t/b servo. The t/b servo sitting upright is very prone to getting water in it. Been there, done that... about 5 times. I'm a slow learner... lol

^ Hmm... I've been snow riding since I got mine. I just blow it out right after I get it inside.. No idea about the balloon thing you speak of.

Then you are running at risk of ruining your electronics and having a run away.

Even if you blow it off when your done, the water that has wicked down into the servos will not get blown away.

It's better to be safe and waterproof like Olds says but having said that, I do the same as Bayer-Z28. I've ran mine in snow several times each year for the last few years with the same electronics and no extra precautions.

So are you a gambler and feel lucky? If you can't afford the parts to replace them if they get damaged then def take some waterproof precautions. There is no guarantee you can get away with out it.

^ I didn't blow mine off last night like I usually do. Just left it to warm up and dry off. Gotta check stuff today.

just fried everthing the hump pack caught fire burned the control, servos, switch, and the charger switch. I'm so pissed and i dont have the $$ to replace. i just got a brand new sts.30 and pipe. and was break it in it had rain the day before but the sun was out and it seemed dry but about tank two i hit a little puudle not much but some water splased and before the end of tank three i lost all control!! thank god for a good return spring cause it came to a nice easy stop. ran over shut it down and it was still smokin open the battery box and every thing was fried..:angry::angry::angry::angry::(:(

That sounds like it could be a dead short with the battery as well. You didn't have the battery wires pinched or bare spots in the insulation did you? Just some ideas to consider when you put it back together.

Thanks for all the help but is there something out there that can like spray on the servos to waterproof them?

You can plasti dip them, but it's way better to split them and seal the seams. Do a search on here on the topic. It's been covered alot.

use the plasti dip i use that on my flux and i can sumerge all my eletronics under water

Until it gets a hair-line crack in it, which probably won't be in a spot you can see. Using the proper rtv on the seams and o-rings on the outputs is the safest way to go. The rtv stays pliable, and is heat resistant.

whats rtv lol sorry I'm kinda new to all this..my truck has sat for like a year or so and I'm just now getting it running again

Be careful when/if you split your servos apart. Hold it with your thumb on the bottom and a finger on the output splines. Then gently separate the case half's. It's easier if all the gears stay put. Don't forget about where the wires come out when applying the rtv.

Anyone else having a problem with bog in the snow? Mine does great on the street when tuning it.. It screams, but when I get it in the snow, it acts up in many ways. Bog, idle hangs, neutrals...
