slipper clutch = engine die ing?

if the slipper clutch is to tight would that make the engine die?
the engine is a trx 2.5
I'm pretty sure its the tunning but thought id ask just to make sure
cause it will idle fine and if i pick the back wheels off the ground it will run
but when the wheels are planted and i give it gas it just putts and dies

Its most likely the tunning in.....Try leaming you low speed needle a 1/4 ou a turn. then try it
 
I would say that it is tuning because I took the whole slipper clutch completely out of my transmission and it didn't make my TRX 2.5 run any worse than it already did.
 
just thought (or Wished )there had to be something else wrong with it guess ill just keep trying to tune it maybe i'll break down and take it to the hobbie store and pay them to tune it for me or find another use for it how bout a four hundred dollar

its not your slipper its the tuning do you know how to tune it?iit maybe to rich lean her out about a 1/8-1/4 turn and see what happens lean meaning turn the screw in
 
Yeah, definitely your tuning. Try going back to the factory needle settings and starting over. If you already have the engine broken in and you don't need to go through the break-in process, it shouldn't take long at all to get right. I can knock it out in 1 tank easy. Just make sure to keep topping it off and not to let it get down... that way you won't have a false sense of it leaning out.
 
The only way the slipper could cause the engine to die would be if the clutch shoes were locked onto the clutch bell and the spur gear were not moving (as in fixed or stationary). This would cause the same thing that friction stopping the engine via stopping the flywheel causes.

This is highly unlikely as too many things would either have to be wrong or get passed to make this the cause. One the clutch shoes or the spur gear would get fragged before this type of scenario occurs.

So, I'd say look at your tuning. Odds are there might be some drag on the drivetrain that the engine is not able to keep up with and ends up starving for fuel as you try and power through it. Try to richen it up a smidge and see if the thing needs the extra fuel to make it through starting up. You might also need to adjust your LSN as it might be too lean also.

Regardless, this is a tuning issue with the potential for something being too snug in the drive train.
