My other half has very surprisingly said that she will get me the 2wd slash I've wanted for ages for my birthday on the 22nd so was just wonderin if theres anything i need ie electrical wise . Or spare parts . Thanks for any input . Ash.

It seems his wife/gf, has agreed to purchase a slash for him on his birthday which is on the 22nd of this month.

He would like to know, what he needs to purchase in order to fully enjoy his new rig.



It depends on the slash she is buying for you. brushed, or brushless, and if it comes with batteries, and a charger.

Go look at my post" salute to John Deere" there is a list at the top that's a good starting point, just get it for 2wd. I just bash with mine so far, and those parts are holding up well. That's just my opinion, there are a lot of guys on here that race that could lead you in a better direction than me. Best of luck to you.

The 2wd Slash doesn't need much IMO. My son bashes his hard(tries to emulate my Savage ) and the only problems he's had is he stripped the spur gear when the motor came loose,broken 1 control arm,1 axle carrier and popped the top off of a couple of shocks. It took some serious crashes to break anything. 95% of the time he just bashed it,put it away and bashed again the next time he was ready. We opted to use the cheap stock replacements since it took a lot to break them. BTW it is upgraded to brushless VXL and still takes a good beating.

Yer once i get used to and no how everything works going to upgrade to brushless . Just been doing some research on lipo's balancing . Discharge . Cut off's and all that because its all new to me . I love the john deer body btw . I can't wait . Can i run lipo's on a brushed motor ?

Oh and I'm only gunna be bashing with it . I bash real hard with my t maxx . And have been lookin at rpm parts for it. Is it worth upgrading before i take it out or am i better off bashing it finding out wat the weak spots are and then upgrading them at a later date . Just ordered the volks bug body for it off modelsport.co.uk . And aint even got it yet . Lol . Well hyped . .

A LiPo can be used with the brushed motor but you need a low voltage cutoff to protect from over draining the battery.

Comes in on Wed but have to wait until 22nd = sucks to be you

I bash my slash harder than my maxx's!! all stock parts except for my CC sv2 esc. and 4pole 5700kv motor fun on 2s and insane on 3s.. You will love the slash it is a hole different animal than the maxx!!! Oh I also have a set of paddle tires for mine.. I dont think you will be disapointed at all.. expecaily after you go brushless when you get the cash to do that.. You can get my setup on ebay between 80-90 bucks and from tower hobbies its 100 bucks.. My boy will be getting the same system for his slash in the next couple weeks.. good luck and happy waiting l.o.l.:

another thing you can do is if you dont use reverse on your maxx You can get a spare 2.4 receiver and put it in your maxx so you can use the same controler for both rigs.. that helps because you only need 4 batteries for the 2.4 controler... and the 2.4 reciever has a failsafe in it.

Yea i have the spektrum dx3s and I've got too recieves's so will be puttin the sr3000t in the slash . I no it comes with a batt and charger are these anygood . Or am i better off gettin a diff batt . I'm still going up to the lhs on wednesday too drool over it and look at it lol . But yer it sucks that I've got to wait till the 22nd . But i can't really moan for a birthday present lol . Hope its worth the wait

The batt that comes with it isnt bad but I use a 4600mah batt in my sons good run time 30 - 45 min. run off the 4600 and more closer to 30 or alittle less with the 3000 that comes with it.... you are going to want a few batteries for going out bashing we all have 3 batt's a piece and sometimes that doesn't feel like enough but it works...

I know what you are going through This last x-mas I had to wrap up my 3.3 t-maxx along with everyone else's nitro's so they wouldnt know what I got them.. that sucked!!!!! but it was worth the wate when I got to see their faces!!!

you will love it!! expecially after you go brushless!!! I use mine alot! about as much as the maxx's maybe even alittle more...

Cheers for the tip . How fast can is it then with the standard batt and motor then. I'm gunna pick up a extra couple batt's wen i get it. And make sure i check everything before i take it out while the batt's are charging. . Wen i go in there on wednesday . Il ask em wat brushless motor's and ESC's are available to me here in the uk . And what they can get it in . Coz haven't got a blue lol . And cheers for the info matt. Anything else ?

the best gearing I have found was from someone on this site and he suggested 23t pinion and 90t spur. helps with the top speed.. but My stepson is still running the stock gears in his and isnt having any problems with that but it comes with a 90t spur and a 23t pinion in the box so play around with different size gears and check temps until you find your fav. match.. although you will want dif gearing when you go brushless.. like i said with brushless I am running 23t pinion and 90t spur.. temps are fine without fans on my 2s 4100 lipo but with my 3s 5000 lipo I need fans because it just makes it ratical.. as soon as you drive that slash brushless you will have a hard time ever driving brushed again...

only got 12 days and think by wed.9 days till.. what color top did you order your slash with??? I am starting to get a few clear tops fo a few of my nitros and next is for the slash to make her personal..

and we will want pics.. slipper clutch is something to check and the pinion gear, wheel nuts, and shock scews ae a good place to start on the before run check.. you are going to be blown away on how much is not there with the slash, it is so simple and thats what makes it so tuff!!! a set of paddle tires for the back helps in loose dirt and sand, it will help keep it strait.. When I think of any other ideas I will keap them comein.. oh If you get a extra top when you grab the slash you can make yourself a slashMaxx.. I want a new top I can paint for the maxx even though that yellow and black one I have has been changed alittle bit I will be doing new pics soon.. take it easy ash and any ???'s you might have dont hesitate!!!

we run anywhere from the 8.4v 3000mah up to the 8.4v 4600mah. I beleive you can go up higher on thee mah.. where you are used to speed I would go with a couple batt's 4600 or bigger.. the tires that come on them arent to bad at all.. Well until you go bigger motor. I want to find some softer tires I think for the pavement and keep the paddles around for loose dirt.. But I have to find out what they run at the track so I can get a set and get used to the handling with those, so I dont look too new to the racing part considering most of them at the lhs race all the time.. you eill love that thing when you get it!!! so damn durable its crazy flip after flip after flip and not any signs of any accidents except a few scratches.. my son has the black top that has alittle red and I have the red and black top both are real nice!! I want to make the next slash tops ones that we have designed.. I am going to get the kc lights fo the bumber and the roof rack, and mudflaps.. I think that sets the truck off nicely!!

Oh temps are normaly around 150 on my sons slash, Mine gets alittle warmer with what I am running with the 4100 2s, and it over heats at the moment with the 3s 5000 so I need to get the esc. fan and the motor fan and I would like to get the aluminum rear end casing because it has the fins on it for cooling the motor aswell..

Cheers matt will have a look . Can i put a 9.4 volt batt innit then will that make it faster . I still not quite there yet with wat the mah and volts due to a motor . And yer i was lookin at hop ups on modelsport.co.uk for it and them mudflaps with the light kit on the roof look sick .

new pics are up well some are.. the classic with escalade top and the paddle tires that you see on the jato in those pics are the ones that I have been running on the slash when I am in loose dirt,and sand. I took the mouth and eyes off the front of the maxx with the slash top. ( I think it looks alot better!!!) any other questions just let me know.. And you can get lipos to run with the stock motor and esc just read the booklet and see what it says for size and it tells you how to setup the volt. potection on the esc. to be able to run lipos, also talk to the people at your lhs aswell and see if they have ant ideas..

I am not sure about the 9.4's to be honest you might be able to check in the booklet I will look at mine here in a few minutes I have to run to the store and then when I get back I will let you know what I finnd out.. maybe about an hour.
