Skid plates

Personally I would steer away from the aluminum skids for front they will bend too easy. I have one in the center by 3Racing that works pretty well so far. Front I would stick with plastic, unless you know you will not be taking any front end hits. The center and rear bling will work. Unless you are worried about weight.....then aluminum is not your friend.

Well, after shelling out $ 4 or 5 times just to get a rear skid, I went with a high quality trinity alloy skid. I kept busting the little flap off the rear that holds the pins in on the lower arms. I ended up with 4 or 5 sets of brand new front skids... due to the fact that traxxas sells them with the rears.

I stuck with stock for everything else including the servo skids.

i see your point. But i think the scrapes and scratched in the aluminum skids would make them less desireable. With the plastics ones just throw them out and pop new ones on.

Yeah, I thought the same thing until my day was ended due to the plate busting off.

If you stick with plastic, make sure you have a spare with you all the time. Especially if you run in rocks or on concrete. I think running at my local concrete skatepark is what made mine break so frequently. When landing, the rear skid would drag/grind on the concrete and eat it away, which made it thin, then easily bust off.

That said, I think someone now sells a relatively thick cover for the rear skid. It's thick/light and cheap, so as it wears out, you just replace the cover vs buying the entire skid kit from traxxas.

EDIT:
Found one of them, but it's not the one I was thinking of:
