UPDATE

Baby got shoes.

Traxxas 2.2 deep dish rear rims with IMEX 5.5 medium Rubicon tires. I liked the aggressive look on the tread pattern, but I'm not big on the wheels. They're just sitting there for scale, but will be a taller ride height when the suspension is in.

I'm now looking for a rear that would give me the right width so I can start building up the chassis.

Question:
Will all tires work with bead lock rims? I found a couple of designs that would look much better on this truck.

Any one know of 2.2 rims that look like 'just plain truck' rims?

If you know of someone who makes a similar 'just plain truck' rim in plastic, I'll get them.
They will be painted desert tan, so fancy alloy is not necessary.
The bead locks I posted are only 21 a pair, so painting them won't be as painful.

Anything more or less than the 5.5" tires didn't work with this 1/6 scale.

Wow, i completely forgot about this thread. Look awesome Rolex! I actually quite like the rims that are on it at the moment. It gives it the scale look.

How many hours have you put into it?
 
I'm probably close to the 20 hour mark which isn't bad, so far. It's the interior that's gonna' take up some serious time since this one came with none, and almost blacked out windows. That also included the front windows. I decided to leave the dark ones in the cap only.

The rims that are there now are okay, but I'm looking for something with more of a mean look to them.

As far as I know all 2.2 beadlocks will work with all 2.2 tires. The only ones that will not are the Venom Creeper tires and wheels they have a funky bead on the tire and wheel.

1.9 wheels would look retarded on this truck, it is a 1/6 scale body, 1.9 are for a 1/10 scale body.


Rolex, have you seen the wheels from Jconcepts ? The look like Walker Evens beadlock wheels. Also I ran JunkFac beadlocks for a while on a 2.2 scale rig and the bead kept pulling out.

I have a friend on RCC that sales this wheel, it is a very scale looking wheel
 
Here's one of the ones posted, from JConcepts. $48 for all 4. This is another one I'll seriously consider.

Both sets of wheels I'm leaning towards have the center cap included. I think that adds a lot of appeal to a truck wheel.
They're both right at $50, and I'd rather spend that than repaint wheels that are $130.

The dark gray ones with 190 bolts per wheel :hehe: would be perfect if it weren't for the outside ring of lug nuts. A bit of overkill if you ask me.

As far as scale goes, even at 1/6 scale, you have to realize that the Humm-V is a massive vehicle. This thing is 26" long and 13" wide. The 5.5s were the only size that looked 'correct' on it.

On the other hand if you want true Hummer scaleness you should stick some Maxx arms, shafts, and diffs under it and put those arms at around a 40 degree down angle.

Rolex, I know that this is a 1/6 scale build but maybe you could do something like this guy is doing, but with Savage parts or Slayer arms and diffs to keep it narrow and everything under the body

I just finished doing a fast search on axles, and so far the T-Rex-60 would fit the tires inside the body as long as I don't use offset wheels.

Now I have to take another ride past the National Guard base down the road since I just saw these wheels (1.9) on a site, listed as "Humvee" wheels.

If that's what the actual Humm-V wheels look like, then there's no other choice but to do $130 for a set of them in 2.2.

EDIT:

This isn't good. It seems that the Hummvee rims are only in 1.9. Any chance I missed something?

That is what real Hummer wheel looks like but the kicker is RC4WD doesn't make them in 2.2.
 
I guess I edited at the same time you posted. I looked, and could only find 1.9. Bummer. I was really starting to take a liking to them.

Hey Ralph, that's why I posted those in the first place, because they are humvee wheels. I just wasn't taking in to consideration that this was a 1/6 build when I recommended them, sorry bud.

Yeah, Joe. I even noticed 'Hummvee' in the properties box.
At first, I thought they looked ridiculous, but the more I looked at wheels, the more I liked the mean look of them.
I have 1.9s on the Ugly Truckling, and I've looked them over, but there's no way a 1.9 would look good in this scale.
On the other hand, I could go with a bigger rim and shallower sidewall if you know of any.

As fare as a rear or front diff, I would prefer to go with the dropped A-arm look of the real Humm-V instead of a straight axle. That will take some tinkering unless someone knows of a similar setup that I can get separately. As far as gearing and trans, this has way too long of a wheelbase for a crawler, so I'd like to get some better speed out of it also.
