would the os .18tz be to much drivetrain killing power for a ntc3
I'm gonna get an engine soon for my ntc3 ..and I'm looking at the sirio .12 evo2
and the os .18tz

this will just be for insane parking lot bashing i dont see myself ever club racing
just run what cha brung parking lot stuff ...the sirio for $160 at tower after ad is quite tempting but out of stock

Those are both pretty sweet engines. I ran the Sirio Evo2 in my NTC3 and loved it. She was good all around, but really screamed in the mid and upper RPM range. I don't have any experience w/ the OS engines, but the 18tz look pretty good.

I see that OS rates it at 1.8hp @29K rpm, but they say a recent article was done and she cranked out 2.28hp @ 30.5K rpm. That is pretty sick.

The only drawback I see is that 2.28hp is cutting it pretty close to the power border line. I think it might be a little too much power for her and you will simply lose traction everytime you drop the hammer hard.

But since you will simply be running in the lot, I would say go ahead and get the 18tz. But if you were going to race competitively, then I would go w/ the Evo2.

I think the NTC3 would be fine handling the OS power. You just need to watch out and not crash her. LOL. Probably the only thing you will tear up is tires. I would recommend checking out the HPI Belted Slicks. I liked those alot for bashing in the lots.

Later.....

i have a 18tz in my ntc3 but i can't tell you how it is yet as the weather is to cold to really break her in

ok.,,, so i took it out today and starting leaning it a bit

i thought it was fast for a bit till i realized at full thrttle it stopped acclerating at like 30mph.... so i started leaning it out( its REALLY easy to tune and seems to accept even bad tuning)

it was faster then i could handle on the street. then the tank ran out and all 4 tires broke lloose on 1/8 throttle and the engine started free revving and that was all i got to... didnt see a second gear shift or anything but its FAST, and i havent injured a drivetrain peace yet...(expect maybe a clutch)

edit: 3 more tanks through it. everything on the drivetrain holding, but the tires balloon around 40 and catch on the body so i will need to trim some.... havent seen the two speed engage so i will have to adjust it..... i would recomend this engine for any one who is looking for "budget" speed(people who want a fast engine but not a 300$ race .12)

Haven't ran either of these engine, but I do understand how a race .12 will compare to a beefy .18. For your application I would go with the .18TZ. It'll give you plenty of power from what arrow says. It will be much easier to tune and maintain.

If you were going to race your car the Sirio .12 would be the way to go. But since you are parking lot bashing and maybe a bit of racing it sounds like the .18 is the way to go.
